cant get used to it
cant get used to it
I'm used to rockin on my old TLs, but now i have a K7 GSX-R1000, and i just cant seem get used to the thing. feels like it has no *** behind it. My TL was geared down 20 percent. I'm looking to drag at bristol and gear it down a bit, but i want to keep a good time there and play. Im used to all that torque and now it seems i have none. any suggestions on gearing?
Re: cant get used to it
I'm not sure what the best gearing for dragging would be.........but I am -1, +6 on my R1, and that keeps it streetable. With that gearing, I can't keep the front end down while on the throttle through 4th gear. As for getting used to your bike, the best advice I could give you is to work on brake control. In my experience, V-twins require more throttle control than brake control. They have so much torque and engine braking that you can virtually put the front end where you want it with nothing more than the throttle. Your GSXR is going to require more brake control in combination with smooth throttle control. Practice, practice, practice.......Good luck!
Re: cant get used to it
Thanks, my TL could do a power wheelie in 4rth without letting out to compress the forks. loved it. and the pic on my avatar is what it looked like after practicing tricks and playing tag with a dodge neon (they cheat, quick game....) got $300 for it and im kickin my own *** for sellin it. I actually have to sell the GSX-R due to this divorce i found out today. so i'm parking it with 2k on the odo. whoever wants it tell me, and i need to find a good bike to screw up. so any leads on one would be great.
I'm also in a rut with finding a place to practice. the cops have all the old spots down around my area. any tips on finding a new playground?
From what i have researched, a GSX-R has more horses than a r1, and i only need the front end to skip. I was thinking of going up one in the front and up 8 in the rear so the sprockets have more grip and slacken down on the stretching. it isnt much of a problem with the front end coming up because i can handle the rear brake to keep the front tire skipping. this combo would keep it geared only slightly less than yours so thanks for the info. besides, a massive sprocket on the rear is just sexy :P
as for the throttle control on that TL, i never replaced the cpu or put a power commander in it, and it was a 99, so it had the stutter step until the 4k range. and with the RPMS having to stay that high i never risked staying on the back wheel too long, so i never really got used to wheelies, i usually played off the bike.
If you want to hear a mean bike, take a TLS cut the cans short like mine, empty the cans and open it up down a road. Ive never heard a roar quite like it. take it to the 10.5 redline and **** off the next county haha.
thanks for the help man.
