in wheelie run out of rpms

I've been doing pretty good getting the bikes front wheel off the ground. Right now i'm riding them out all the way to redline. So my distance is dependent on my rpms. I'm in first gear powering them up. Wondering if i'm running out of rpms cause i'm not at the balance point yet or do I need to shift. I really think its cause i'm not at the balance point.

Re: in wheelie run out of rpms

clutching it up right now is a little jerky. when I power it up I'm able to control my wheelie better. Working on trying to hold them longer. I just run out of rpms. Like I said I think if i was at the blance point my rpms wouldn't keep on rasieing. True?????

Re: in wheelie run out of rpms

Like WHEELIE sayz CLUTCH THAT **** UP, might be jerky but get use to it, when you find BP powering it up it might get scary then real ugly at red line speed. Read the how to wheelie thread, I have and still do. Clutch up and ride.

Re: in wheelie run out of rpms

if you get lucky enough (or unlucky enough) to find BP this way....It will be at 74 MPH and 13000 RPM (This is NOT where you want to learn throttle control )

everyone in this thread has given you the best info available.

Now it's up to you ....to do what you want to with it.

Let us know when you Find BP and decide to start clutching it up

Re: in wheelie run out of rpms

practice clutching up from about 3 miles an hour. Start out easy. twist the throttle and slowly let out the clutch. just practice that. once you start getting it more than 13 inches of the ground.. then start riding them out. but for now just work on the verry begining of the wheelie. DO NOT power up a wheelie. thats just asking for trouble. One thing Ive never even thought of doing. Good luck.. When you forks are parrallel to the ground.. You are at BP. Good luck.

Clutch ftw.

I'm shocked nobody has told him to power it up or try it in third or something. The haters are slacking.

Re: in wheelie run out of rpms

I am in the same position. I clutch it up though, but I am hitting redline an it comes back down. Every time I shift into 2nd it stays up for maybe 2 secs. but then right down. Not at the bp? I mean it feels like it.. Any help on this would be appreciated .

Re: in wheelie run out of rpms

I'm in the same position as the "postee'" though im bairly getting a chance to ride ****!!! I created my own thread and alot of guys were telling me to get my power band tightened. I ride a zx-9 w/ a 1 down in the front so it's easy to get the wheel up w/o coming close to the redline! I think it's just time to let go of the apron straps and just clutch it!!!
