Re: 03 04 636 clipons

How are the FI's set up? Do they use the stock position on the clamp and the clipon is forward? Do you still use the bolt that goes under the tripple?

Re: 03 04 636 clipons

stock clip ons have like a 10 or 12 degree angle downward. FI clip ons have a 0 degree which makes them higher and way more comfortable, i had a set on my 05R6 and transfered them to my 03 636 when i got it, the R6's were on top of the triple making them really comfortable and high. the 636 stock has them below the triple tree and still make you lean over quite a bit. i just sold my FI clip ons for a set of Vortex 7 degree bars that i flipped and mounted on top of the triple instead of below them, now its like i have dirt bike bars, ***** awesome. the best thing about aftermarket clip ons is you can mount then wider or narrower, they are fully adjustable, depending on what you like and you can turn them out to be completely straight if you want to, depending on where the upper fairing is you may have to shave sections of it down so you can turn if you mount the bars to be almost straight across. i am turning mine into a streetfighter so thats y i mounted mine on top of the triple which actually lowered my bike about an inch in the front but the rear is gonna be about the same (i'm short) and the 636 is much taller than the R6 i can barely touch tip toed. but anyways going streetfighter i can mount my bars almost straight like a normal handlebar and they wont interfere with the upper fairing or anything cuz there isn't one. if you have an 03-04 636 i highly recomend the Vortex 7 degree bars over the FI bars and just flip them to opposite sides versus the FI bars (If you are stunting more than anything), unless you ride a lot of twisties and ride hard it may be more comfortable and handle better with the FIs, i ride hard in twisties every now and then also, almost scraping knees and i think i'll be fine with the vortex on mine, may be different for you idk. p.s. is you lower the front end and mount the bars on top of the triple with a full fairing you may bottom out the upper to the front fender while doing stoppies i'm not sure. i have heard of soem guys flippping the triple upside down which gives you room to mount the bars on top also worx but i haven't done it. This is just my

Re: 03 04 636 clipons

hmmm wierd my stock clip ons are a lower bend than the 7 degree vortex i just got, i'll have to double check um. either way you can make the vortex ones a lot wider than stock ones. i was just trying to answer some upcoming questions from the one who asked.
