Having problems with stoppies!
Having problems with stoppies!
I can do em' at 30 mph or less but any faster like 40 or 50 my tire ALWAYS skids on me? I grip the tank every time and put my weight over the handlebars (I only weigh 125) and I always pump the brake twice, once to compress my shocks and again to bring the back up, but I always feather the back up I don't wip it up in a second like the pros. do yet. I'm really starting to get annoyed of my front tire skidding. Has anyone else had this same problem I have when they first started rolling them? Is there a special way to do em' at higher speeds, or am i doing something wrong here? And YES my tire is warm and I have 30 psi when I do them. Any advice will help thanks
Re: Having problems with stoppies!
try 25 psi and don't pump the brake just transfer your weight and brake at the same time ,and you kind of have to whip it up or the tire will slide
i mean you don't have to whip it up to balance point if your not ready for that but you have to whip it up some what to get it started

Im in for some advice as well!! I usually jus pinn out 1st gear and hit it, but I dont really play around with them much. I just need to get more comfy with the tire coming up, I never let it come that far off the ground haha my lil ***** endos like 8-10'' off the ground maybe!!!
Re: Having problems with stoppies!
i had the same problem. let the Air out to 20 PSI. and the first couple of times dont go for distance... meaning, compress the forks slowly and same with the front brake.... then when you get the rear wheel up, and your front tire is warm, be more aggressive and hit the front brake faster and get the rear end up quicker.

also being a little(5'9 135lbs) guy i found that if you soften your suspension some it helps with the preload. but deff make small adjustments to your front suspension untill you get it how you like it. and then its just practice.

Use low pressure until you learn the technique

Re: Having problems with stoppies!
why do people pump the brakes? it doesn't do jack. knock that crap off.
you have 1 of 2 problems. your tire isn't sticky enough or the surface is dirty not allowing grip.
i'm going to take a guess that you have a junk *** tire. just because it has tread doesn't mean the compound isn't destroyed and hard from being old. replace it with nice new tire.

Re: Having problems with stoppies!
i have my compression about half soft and rebound hard. i really throw my weight tho. but to each his own, its all about what is comfortable to you. i have completely stock f4i front end too, not that it matters
Re: Having problems with stoppies!
nice sticky race take offs work wonderfull
really soft compound tires hook up well
I've got a race take off slick on the front now, has never locked up on me, it chirps a little when pullen them up at 80mph but doesn't lock up

Re: Having problems with stoppies!
I keep my suspension soft, bend my lever out a bit, run a pilot front tire and tire pressure around 20psi
start off in first go as fast as you want let off the gas and hit the brake. you wont have to throw all your way forward and the suspension will be preloaded from accelerating and letting off, use the bikes momentum. keep trying to get it higher and higher etc... you will know when your on the right track. its all or nothing with endos.
thats how i learned

Re: Having problems with stoppies!
once you stop doing power stoppies and start getting them up to balance point your tires and brakes will last a lot longer
