Problems getting it up in 2nd

Well, I have been riding for years, but have to admit that I am a squid( FIRST ROCKET)!! I have owned my 2000 ZX9R Ninja for over 2 months but have put on at least 3500 miles since I,ve had it! The only way I can get this thing up is to power on in first!! This seems to be a little scarry so I have been working on slipping the clutch in 2nd and the dam thing is not havin it! Now don't tell me that I don't have ***** cause I do! I get this thing up to 12 or red line before I POP that clutch and the most I'm getting is 1-2in. The bike seems to be having a 1 second lag when I really get on it! It sounds like a slite gurgle before it grabs! Could this be something wrong with the bike? Could the clutch be slipping(don't think so) or could it just be becaule I'm on a carbarated bike? Sorry I am not a gear head, but would love to know what the problem is(me or the bike)? Keep in mind, that I will learn to do this reguardless, just would like some helpfull advice so I don't hurt myself! Powering on is dueable but want to slip the clutch and don't want to try it in first anymore! SCARRY!

I think the problem isnt u, its the bike homie. See, ur ridin an old kawasucki and u need to get on of them newer liter bikes to ever have any hope in lifting that front wheel up in any other gear than first.

TY for the help, but can't get the rebound down right or it just doesn't work! Could this be from the gurgling when I pop the clutch!

All right I'll give a secret. Change your powerbands. I was at a carbon but went to red with green. Call your auto parts store or HAI they have all your wheelie needs.

Re: Problems getting it up in 2nd

Ok listen. That is a good bike, however it is certainly not the best bike for stunting. Yes it does do high speed wheelies even into 3rd gear but it is too heavy and the carbs suck. Your carbs sound like they need a full rebuild and sync (up to $300). if you had a newer bike like an F4i, 636 or similar you would be very happy and save $$$$$ in the long run. Now just read the Wheelie sticky and clutch up first a 1000 times while saving for your new bike.
