FMX question
FMX question
i know that 250 two stroke is the best bike for fmx but im not quite ready for that. im looking for an RM125. will i still be able to still do fmx? and does any one know of any fmx parks or places to ride around in Kansas City Missouri?
Re: FMX question
your just not getting the pop you need for the bigger gaps to compete with the 100 + foot gaps you'll need that 250. Not to mention if you dont think you can handle a 250 yet it would be better if you got more time on the 250 first and then progressed into fmx that way. just my take on the whole thing
Re: FMX question
hey tony L i would love to have a 250 but my mom and dad dont want me getting any bigger than a 125 two stroke if you see i am only 13 so do u think i will get enough pop if i go off the jumps in a higher gear then if i was on a 250 i am about 5"6 and wheigh only about 100 lbs so u see that my parents dont want me on a 250
Re: FMX question
yeah they mostly use 250's....the 125 is acctually harder to ride (zappy unpredictable powerban) 250 has more of a broad powerban than the 125. Get the 250 first...starting on a 125 your wasting your time.

its not about the size...power characteristics make a 125 harder to ride than a 250....i believe a 250 only has 10-12 more HP than a 125. Tell your pops that I told you to start off on a 250.
Re: FMX question
my pops just got home and i asked him if there is any way to let me get a 250 and he said no way. do u think that at my size that i should really get a 250. o and wondering do u ride FMX

actually i think couple pros use a 250 four stroke, but im not sure
i think 125s are a good bike to start on minus the crazy powerband they have, i had a 00 cr 250 and it was PERFECT for fmx nice wide powerband, plenty of power for 100 plus foot gaps. but if you can convince your folks for a 250 go for it Re: FMX question
Well from what you just said it seems like you just walked up to your Dad and simply asked, "Can I get a 250 instead of a 125?"
Listen to what E-loc said and tell that stuff to your Dad. Say that the number they stamp on the side of the bike doesn't mean much. The 250 isn't anymore difficult to ride, especially for FMX, plus like E-loc said the 250 is broader powerband and only like 10hp more. Tell him this stuff and I'm pretty sure the bike isn't physically bigger...

Some of the pro's are using 450/ 4 st's due but the engine brake in the air actually throws off the pitch of the bike hence you'll hear a panic rev more often to get the front end down.
At 13 you may be able to use a 125 to learn the basics airs, grabs, even flips if you have access to a pit. we had a kid learning on a 85 hitting 75foot ramp to dirt. just takes a lot more umph out of the bike to get it launched and stable in the air.
Re: FMX question
FMX is one of that hardest sports to get into...you cant just wake up one day and say hey im gonna hit big jumps and do tricks.....most of these guys have a motocross background. They've hit jumps for years. Sure you really have to know what your doing and you have to carry a large pair of *****...FMX is no joke. These guys are doing insane tricks over jumps I wouldnt even think about clearing just to jump it. good luck man

Re: FMX question
DON"T GET INVOLVED WITH EAST COAST EXTREME!!! I used to ride for them and I nearly lost my bike overseas . Use whatever bike feels right for you. you aren't going for 75+ foot ramp jumps right off the bat so a 125 is just fine. I've done lots of shows at 75ft with guys on 125's also. I am 5'7 135lbs and ride a 250 2 stroke. It's not hard to ride at all. Also as far as cutting the bike . DON'T DO IT UNLESS YOU USE IT! I at this point in time only do superman seat grabs and 1 hand seatgrabs, hence I only cut my seat and left # plate. Don't cut your front fender it is stupid and it will fling more dirt on you. to start cut your seat and maybe rear fender so you don't hand up doing nacnacs.
