Please help with wheelie
Please help with wheelie
Hey every1... Hope all is well. Im struggling to figure this out and was hoping someone can help me. I am getting pretty good and my wheelies 1,2,3 and 4th gear. I have an 07 Yamaha R6S with a sprocket kit -1/+2, power commander, k&n filter, Yoshi Slip-on and a few other mods.
My problem is that I cannot keep them straight. Im constantly veering off to the right. I have checked my brake pads to make sure their not too tight, I also keep my rear tire pressure at around 28-30psi.
Keep in mind i have to bounce up 3rd and 4th... could I be bouncing too hard on one side? I keep my body as centered as possible but still find my self over 2-3 lanes from where I started.
Any1 ever have this problem?
Any help or advise much appreciated. Thanks

Re: Please help with wheelie
Drop your tire pressure down to 15-20 psi. It sounds like you are standing with both feet on the front pegs, if so start putting your left foot on the passenger peg. Other than that, it is just a matter of keeping you weight balanced on both sides of the bike.
I used to have the same problem, and it was a matter of me pushing all my weight on my right leg and then just making it worse when trying to correct it. Eventually, I got to where I locked both legs out as soon as it came up and that made the prob go away.
Also, **** bouncing them up, start using the clutch.

Thanks for the quick reply. You keep your pressure that low? Does it effect your turning? I will drop to 20 and see if its any better. I will also try my left foot on the passenger peg. Thanks again for your advise. By the way, I bounce it with the clutch, I never do power wheelies anymore.

Re: Please help with wheelie
Just keep practicing. Keep your tire pressure where its at. Your just unconsciously leaning to the right. Once you can slow your wheelies down you'll be able to steer them better and keep it centered. Try also to consciously put more pressure on your left foot. this is harder said then done. But once you can ride BP and slow em down it will come............practice grasshopper.
Re: Please help with wheelie
Thanks again for the helpful replies... Funny thing is, every stunt site I read or look at sais nothing about keeping them straight... they just talk about finding BP. I definately found my BP, I can ride for about 2 miles at 10k rpm, just find myself drifting really hard
Re: Please help with wheelie
If they keep going to the right and this is on the street, there is a GOOD chance you bringing it up too close to the natural crown of the road. Most streets are dome shapped not flat so that rain can drain off. Try starting the whoolies closer to the center of the road.
