A big syringe is good for bleeding brakes. Put on bleed nipple and suck through (making sure to top res up cos it'll go down quickly) the pressure from the syringe sucks fluid and air out in seconds.

My HB is pretty damn good as it is, but I'm gonna do as Bill says to see if it improves it even more. cheers.

i'm having issues with bleeding brakes... but not to change the subj, i read on kawiforums that leaving the master cover off overnight, is a no no... they said that the brake fluid soaks up moisture from the air and lowers the boiling point of your brake fluid. i'm certainly not an expert on the subj, but its something to consider anyway!

I don't think you can bump a sticky :]]

After reading this thread I zip-tied the front brake lever on my FZR and left it overnight. The brake went from a mushy piece of **** to rock hard and working! I can't believe the difference it made. I spent two hours bleeding the damn thing before, and it didn't fix it - but this did. Thanks

excellent read, i'm curious if this is right what this post was saying, do you guys put a ziptie on and leave it overnight with the resy cap on then take it off before releasing the ziptie in the am? and would it have an effect on the boiling point of the fluid?

And for anyone that doesnt already know this... do yourself a favor and go to an auto parts store and buy a vaccuum pump... by far the easiest way to get a dry system full of fluid!!! and it gets almost all the air out very quickly... then you can ride and little, bleed it some more, do some of the great tricks/techniques like this one that you read on here, and your HB will be 100% solid!!!
+1 vacuum pump makes bleeding quicker...

I always put the zip tie on overnight with the cap on and the next day I cut the zip tie, then pump the res. hose like bill said. Don't pull the brake before you pump the hose! That will put it right back in there,

And yes moisture will lower your boiling point

Re: ** How to get the last little bit of air out of your handbrake **

+1 to bleeding it with the master off. If you don't have help, turn it right side up and mount it backwards untill it's bled then flip it.
Good stuff

IT DOES WORK, I TRIED IT TO BOTH OF MY BIKES 2 NIGHTS IN A ROW AND THEY R HARDER. THEY R NOT ROCK HARD BUT IT MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE, THANKS:YEAH

Re: ** How to get the last little bit of air out of your handbrake **

This one hasn't been mentioned so maybe it doesn't affect many bikes but I had problems with bleeding a handbrake and after hours of head scratching it turned out to be a tiny amount of motion in the foot brake.....when you squeezed the hand brake the foot pedal would move by a few mm....felt like air but but wasnt!
