Question "From Dirtbike to Motorcycle"

I use to wheelie dirtbikes. Now I'm starting to wheelie a CBR600RR. When I was on my dirtbike, I would go behind the balance point. In the rear brake would do all the work with a quick dab on the brake. Then when I tried it on the CBR600RR it felt like it wasn't responding. I lift it up in 1st gear, let off the gas a little in shift into 2nd gear. The throttle was steady, I felt the bike dipping back real slow, so I was tapping the rear brake but it kept going back. Then I decided to stomp the rear brake pedal in the air. My bike finally came down, I was inch from scraping my back felt like it was going to hit the street. My question is are do all rear brakes work like that on motorcycle?

"In when this happened my rear brake where brand new".

Re: "From Dirtbike to Motorcycle"

maybe adjust the pedal up some

you could have air in the system

streetbikes are heavier that dirtbikes, that weight requires more braking to get the same results

How do you know that you were an inch from scraping? My guess would be that you weren't high enough for the brake to do much of anything. Unless you have an amazing amount of natural talent it will probably take a little while to get to the level you were at on your dirtbike on your RR. It probably just feels like you are really high and behind balance point when you actually are much lower. Do you have any pics, that might help...

Soon I will post some pic's I know the balance point. I can ride 2nd gear for 5 or more city block. I was doing some practice on slow wheelies the bike was up. I had enough time to hit the brake 3 times in then finally stomp it to bring it down. I could almost feel my back touch the ground I was 3 to 4 inch's from scaping. The bike was straight up I couldn't see nothing. I had to look to the side that's when I knew my bike was inch from scaping.

If your brakes are brand new...then they obviously havent broken in yet, Brake them in real good and make sure they're bled...if thats not it then its the weight difference liek the guy before said.

I'll just wait to see the pictures because as far as I know you can't see over the front of the bike after like a 45 degree angle when you are doing sit downs which is miles from scraping. But I'm still learning too so what do I know
