Hey guys what's up just wanted to say i want to buy a dirtbike and i am new to FMX i have been watching it on tv lately i think it is off the hook. My question is i have never ridden before and i would love to get a dirtbike. but i have no idea of what kind of dirtbike to get or to start out on? MY other problem is i am short to about 5'7 and i have sat on some dirtbikes and find some are a little to tall for me can anyone help me out with this and give some advice and get me started in the direction of FMX I would love to learn and to start riding dirtbikes i have been riding quads for a little over a year now. so if anyone can give me some info on riding dirtbikes would really help thanks again

Hey Nick, welcome to the wonderful world of freestyle!! You should check out the CR250's. If you can ride good on the street a 250 would be good for you. Honda's sit lower then most anyway. If you dont want a honda you can always just jower what ever bike to decide to get. If you want to be stunnin stick with something in the 125-250 range for size, stay with a 2 stroke. A 4 stroke will be to big to learn on. Im only 5'3 and I love to ride the CR250........... Good luck!!

cr125's are ......i have a cr125 and a cr250.....both are great, but it's e-z'r to ramp a 250 more consistently on a larger jump. most people switched over from the 125 to the 250 in the early days of freestyle cause they couldn't clear the jumps wit a short runway. for a person just starting up, i'd say go for the 125 and get your skills up and if you get good you'll be ready for the 250.
below is a pic of me on my cr125

listen, im not trying to be a dick but, FMX is core. this has to be something that youve done all your life. Ive been riding since i was 2. If this is something that you realy want to do start with a 80 ar 125. these are not 4wheelers the 80 will probably be faster than your blaster. As far as being short dont worry about it Im only 5'3'' and 130lbs. If you r gonna get a 125 the late 90s yamahas were great but the blacked out hondas look hard.

i love the newer honda but like 97 up are the best years i think for honda. but like said above the blacked out cr's look as hell. i ride a kx125 and a cr125 and love the twin spar fame on the cr. the 250''s i think are cool but you can have more fun i think on a 125 if you are smaller like me(5'10 140 #'s) they just seem nimble and love to be whipped around from side to side easier, just my .02 later-jason

I think 93 was the best year (mcgrath only rode that year with honda, outta 5 years ) But Ktms sit the loswest. And if you going 85 get a ktm, they are also makes a 105 soon. Ktms are the most powerful and fastest, but have issuses with the shock, linkageless. Go with a 125. I think its cool yhaving a small engin in a big frame.
