Re: R6 Gearing

what are you trying to do strictly stunt or street ride also. i ride a lot of street but also stunt the lots and i find 54 in back and stock in front is good for all arpound street use and lot, i was -1 in front and 54 in back and it was a lil much for street and highway ridin, so i stuck with stock in front and 54 in back.

Re: R6 Gearing

I'm running -1 in front and +2(50t) out back speedo seems to still be correct and it pulls a lot harder. Allthow I'm kicking around the idea of trying a -2 up front I just changed out the gears last month and dont want to buy another chain to try a bigger rear out just yet.

And for the lights I got a switch on the ground wires

Re: R6 Gearing

I went up 12 in the rear and down 1 in the front. I like it alot better. I only ride around town and no long trips so it dont bother me much but the headlight thing just get an aceribes light and take off the upper.

Re: R6 Gearing

stock gearing worked fine with my '04, -1 +2 works even better for the lots. You dont need to gear the **** out of it.

Re: R6 Gearing

^^ive got -1 +2 on my '03. it does good for both. as for the headlights...there is a blue harness on the left side near the fork. unplug it when you are in the lot. that way your high beam works if you need to flash someone across the lot. then when you leave just plug it back in and your low beam will work again.

Re: R6 Gearing

Would -2 in the font and stock rear work good for now and be a good way to not have to buy a whole new chain and sprocket set up? and would It work good for highway use still?

Re: R6 Gearing

I've been told -1 in front is like going +3 in the back. So if you just do a -2 front it should be very close to my -1+2 set up.
Only prob. you may have is your chain my be to long when you get done. You will have to adjust it back kinda far and if its already adjusted back you may run out of room...

Vortex chain and sprocket kits are only about $160 <<just do it!!

Re: R6 Gearing

I have 520 -2 in front and stock rear on my 01 r6 and it is nice but it puts a lot of stress on the chain and the counter shaft. all in all its a quick fix untill you get a lager sprocket. Im going going -1 and 12 up for street.
