Slow wheelie????

I just need some tips. I have a f4i and have been practicing 1st gear from almost dead stop. I'm getting pretty good at clutching it strait up about 3in. from the 12 bar. I'm tring to let the idle take it but if I dont stay on the gas it comes down or stalls as i'm comming down. My idle is pretty high if I set it on the 12 bar the idle will take it down the road. Is my idle still not high enough? I just need some advice because I have stalled and fliped over the bars more then I really want. Any tips would help, thanks..

Re: Slow wheelie????

How do u know your three inches from the bar?? are u taping yourself?? And you say you'r idles pretty high but whats that??

Whats it sounds like to me is that your behind balance point and draging the brake until the bike stalls. insted of trying to get back so far, clutch it up and only use the rear brake when you go behind BP 2 bring it back

Re: Slow wheelie????

My friends came out to video tape thats how I know and i'm not sure exactly how high the idle is because I dont have gages. I'm not tring to get that close to the bar but I just figured the idle would take over sometime. I will try to stay off the brake as much as posible. Thanks for the tips, have any more?

Re: Slow wheelie????

ok, next time your in the lot, ride the bike in a straight line without using the throttle. the speed the bike cruises at is the speed you need to be at or below to let the idle take over...
this is going to sound weird, but for idle wheelies you have to stay OFF the brake, you will be surprised how engine brake will bring down your slow wheelies even with idle up. less brake, more practice, keep it slow. and theres no reason you should be going over the bars, use the clutch and you wont stall and even if you do the bike will roll forward with the clutch in and you wont fall over...

Re: Slow wheelie????

eh hem...idle wheelies absolutely require you to use your brake .......

but it does sound like you are going to far back and then using alot of brake and stalling like snipes said...

try not going so far back and try and find that spot where the bike wants to slowly fall back

then instaed of stabbing the break hard try to just barely use it enough to keep the bike from falling back on the bar ,and just when you think you got it do it 100 more times and you will have it on lock....lol

Re: Slow wheelie????

The bike does 10mh maybe a little more at idle and I clutch it up at 5mh or less. I know it takes a ton of practice Just don't have anyone to tell me what i'm doing wrong so thanks everyone..

Re: Slow wheelie????

sorry to thread highjack here but how hard do you grab the rear brake when your clutching it up at 5mph? I'm having serious problems learning slow wheelies (actually haven't got much practice either) and no one local has stunted before.
