Balance point pointers... lol.
Balance point pointers... lol.
What are some good ways to get familiar with the balance point. I have been getting wheelies down pretty good but I want to do them slower. I can keep them up by going fast but Im not really using the balance point. Any suggestions?

keep going back farther and farther... until you fell it to be dangerous!
and even then, it will still be not high enough. keep going till you hear a scrape, but keep that rear brake active.

Pull the F4i out of the garage.
Grab a hand full, lean back, like ^^ said, keep that rear brake covered. Seriously, youll have to get over that O **** O **** feeling for the first time, whether its on a sit down or stand up.....once you get over that, golden, you will already know what to expect....
Stock gearing on your f4i????
Re: Balance point pointers... lol.
if ur going through the gear fast pull it back until u feel and hear the bike level off. the rpms will stay constant. once u get that down u can start to slow then down. but make sure u cover that break
Re: Balance point pointers... lol.
actually the f4i is in pieces. I'm practicing on the gixer rite now. and yeah its stock gearing. im looking to go -1 and +10 on it. Will that be better for balance point practice? Or should I stick with stock until I get comfortabel with the balance point...

Well it does help to have bigger gearing to do slower idle wheelies, but has nothing to do with the BP. You just have to go for it basicly , make sure you get a cage on that 07! put a bar on it also. If you want to get to the BP right away I'll tell you how, you may not want to take this approach but it's an easy way to get over the fear .
After youve geared it up and have a cage/bar : Raise your idle up to 2,500-3000 , put your bike in 1st / while sitting still with left foot on ground and clutch pulled all the way in and right foot covering RB/slip clutch out and blip the throttle at the same time. You should be able to get a good feel and be able to judge how much to slip it or blip it ,by how much (how high ,how fast) you launch the wheelie. Now at first your most likely going to gorilla scrape ( launch from a stop to the tail hardcore) so thats why you cover the RB . and only tap it when you fall past the BP. But then it happens ,out of the blue you slip it up just right ,from a stop and you catch idle , it will feel as if the bike is floating because it is in a sence ,its being carried along by the idle . also you will know youre at the BP when your forks are level w/ ground . Its physics man ,its the point in between when the bike wants to go backward or forward like a see-saw. ok so there are my views on the basics of getting to BP one way. Now there is more to it like tire pressure, balance, etc,, but its all something you have to get a feel for, and youre own understanding of. study some videos , lol good luck

ehhhh, gearing is only going to magnify choppy throttle control, and nelsons way of learning is using idle as a crutch so you don't have to learn smooth throttle control, cause high idle keeps it smooth for you. Read the basic wheelie guide thread in the help and how to section https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/443...ing-basic.html , and keep it simple. stick with stock gears and just standup staggerd at 10-15mph, and clutch it up over and over, and you'll get it.
Honestly though, I wouldn't try and learn on the '07, wait till the F4i is in one piece

+1
just a week ago I put 60t rear after riding stock, and at first I couldn't do **** in 1st gear until I raised idle...too much engine brake for someone who's learning...I mean eb's good to save your *** but it would be harder to learn throttle control...

Ok, question. I feel like I'm pretty damn high up there and I'm walking em a good minute and a half, but I'm strictly power wheelying.
Thing is , I've been doing the power thing sooo long now I can pretty much blip it right to the sweet spot in 1st w/no flip fear.
I'm up 3 down 2 on the gear tip.
Usually I ****** it up in 2nd at around 50mph, but like Gixxserjake said, I'm still accelerating pretty decent to "Keep it up". By the time I set it down I'm up to 100.
Not good, right? I shouldn't be accelerating much is I'm all BP, right??
I've never covered the rear brake by the way-I know, I know. I'ma start.

get a cage, read the basic wheelie guide thread, and force yourself to start jabbing the rear brake, even when you don't need it, just so you get the feel for using it and it becomes reflex....
You don't accellerate at all at bp.... 50 is way too fast for launching 2nd, that speed and "******" sounds like you're not using the clutch...

I'm gonna start playing w/the clutch and def atart covering that brake-I know it's a necessary tool.
Re: Balance point pointers... lol.
I suggest you read the entire wheelie guide and take it as gospel. powering up is bad news.... pay special attention to "Why clutching wheelies is the best method for launching wheelies" and "How to clutch wheelies: Method 2"
