k, i'm now pretty sure that the 2nd setup is right...

i'm gonna have to leave the bike open tho....gotta wait till tomorrow to buy...

Pro Honda HP Coolant
JB WELD
GASKET SEALER

im also gonna need the drain bolt and its washer...i fucked those up when i was "testing" my piece of **** torque wrench!....just hoping that i didn't strip any of the threads(drain-hole) on the oil pan.

p.s....LOL, lookin over my last posts i prolly confused the **** outta you...by "METAL GASKET" i was actually referring to the RING and by "METAL PLATE" i was referring to the METAL GASKET...i didn't get much sleep last night

****!

bought all the access.

installed pickup, sealed it.
installed headers. (with torque wrench..9 lbs/ft)
installed radiator.

turned the bike on.

****** smoke starts blowing out of the headers....so my guess is that its not tight enough.

i loosen the radiator and start tightening the screws...and one of the nuts snapped and took a piece of the bolt with it....so now im fucked.

look at this:
http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit...e~CBR600F4.asp

look at part #17 on the diagram, i can't really make it up, is that the bolt that goes through the headers?

and if so...how can i replace it? it looks like it can be screwed out but me and 2 my other buddies tried to twist it and take it out with some tools but its either REALLY tight or its not supposed to twist out.

ok, chances are you didn't put new crush gaskets on your headers like you are suppose to, therefore it will leak. also, if you don't get the flang completely in the head (has to line up perfectly) on all of them then they won't seat properly in the head and will cause a leak.

those are header studs. if you broke one you need to get 2 nuts on it and then heat it with a torch and try to back it out. do'nt use a stupid pair of pliers on it cause you'll mess up the threads and it won't come out that way. Also, they are loctited in so they HAVE to be heated to come out.

got em out, except that the threads were already stripped and i had to call this guy that has a shop and have him somehow twist it out with his pliers/tools.

i like ur method much better tho.

and regarding the crush gaskets, yepp, did not have em nor did i know about em. ordered a few today. everything including the studs will hopefully be here by friday. :YEAH

one thing thats weird tho is that when i took off the headers, i did not see any crush gaskets on either end..just alotta black **** at the tip of the headers....can they have "melted" away from the heat?

they are there. usually they are on the cylinder head. they are under all that black soot. start scraping with a pick and you'll find the copper gaskets, then you probably will have to pry them loose.

Re: to those with f4i, oil pickup, and 905

i just got mine installed yesterday. thanks Ryan for getting it to me so fast. Install was a little confusing until i put it all out and matched it up. The only thing that sucked was trying to get the oil pan surface clean and dry when putting the hondabond on it then trying to pus the oil pickup into the slot deep enough while holding the metal plate in place before putting the pan on. That was a trick, but i wanted to make sure that the o-ring on the pickup bottomed out fully when i put it together.

i'll probably test it tomorrow. it's only 23 degrees out right now and i'm not sure it will give me a good eval on the product.
