stunting lowered bike

hey guys i just had a few questions. my friend is a little on the short side (5'5 or 5'6) and he really wants to get a bike to upgrade from the fiddy. he said he feels uncomfortable not being able to stand not so flatfooted on a 600. is there anything he can do to help him out that wont make stunting it horrible? i told him he could shave down the seat but i dont know how much that will actually help, has anyone ever done it? i also suggested lowering the bike just an inch or 1.2 inches. would lowering it that much make it a peice of **** in the lots? i have read about people lowering them 3in which imo is retarded unless your a 5'1 girl and not doing wheelies.

thanks for your help guys.

Re: stunting lowered bike

tell him to quit his bitching, man up, and ride the bike stock...
5'5" is way too tall to be lowering a bike

yea thats what i said too im not tall im like 5'8 on a good day with some boots on but it doesnt bother me.

what about shaving down the seat i would think that might help better than lowering the bike. you think he could get an in.. from doing that?

also i know some bikes sit higher. from ones ive been on the 636 sits higher than the f4i and the rr.

Re: stunting lowered bike

you can adjust the ride hight a lil by spinning the locker nuts on the rear shock up some, it will effect the preload some but you prob won't notice

Darius shaves down all his seats so that he can reach the ground so I assume it works well.

Re: stunting lowered bike

+1 i'm like 5'4" 1/2 maybe and i can only touch with the very tips of my toes, for slow stuff is a lil hard to get used to if you come down wrong n have to catch yourself or the bike from going over but as far as general riding its nothing to get used to, just be careful when learning thats all, never thought about shaving the seat down that may help but i deffinately wouldn't lower it if he plans on stuntin

Re: stunting lowered bike

i bought a 02 gxxr before my 04 that i have now and it had a lowering link on it for the rear shock when i bought it(always thought it sat a little low). but it really didn't make that much of a diffrence to me, the only big thing i noticed with it, was that when u came down from a wheelie/endo, the cage hoop(FI) would hit, if it was a hard fall.
