learnin first gear slow stuff and when i get it up to bp and let pff a bit the front end drops. so would it help to set the throttle freeplay to 0 so that i will always have a lil gas or should i raise the idle? i haben changed my idle much from stock yet. i just wanted to see how i would do with nothin changed

Re: throttle freeplay

if youre doing slow stuff, turn your idle up. throttle play is personal preference, i prefer 0 play but its up to you...

Re: throttle freeplay

iwa thinkin the same with the free play since your usin such little throttle to keep it up it seems to be all on or off with the freeplay i have now.

should i put the idle around 4000?

I don't understand...? why would the idle on stock gearing be too high compared to same idle on geared? if you ask me it's just the opposite...I run around 3k (stock geared) for idle stuff, but for all other (just lots) I run stock idle (1200-1300)...

Re: throttle freeplay

think about it.....you have a stock geared bike, with the idle turned up to like 4000 rpms, and let it go, your gonna be going anywhere from 10-18 mph with the idle turned up....now you have a geared up bike, and turn the idle up, you'll prob be going anywhere from 2-10 mph, depending on your gearing....

Re: throttle freeplay

find your throttle cable adjustment and crank all the play out until it the throttle tube starts binding and becoming stiff to turn then back off a hair. it might feel funny for a minute but it will help you immensely

i like higher idle on stock gears

I think its because you dont need as much power from the engine when you have a big sprocket to get the same response

oh yeah.. why would anyone want freeplay in their throttle? makes for sloppy throttle control

of course, that was my point...but I understand what Beto is saying...3k is so annoying on my little lot cuz stock bike is going like crazy and you have to keep it on the clutch alot of time and the noise is going on my nerves too...
