Drifting
Drifting
After u go into your skid before you gas it are u suppose to front brake a little or just get real low? And ru's clutchin it or just twistin... Just been watchin vids no1 here to teach me. Was watchin the teach vid.
Re: Drifting
not too many people doing that ****. if you have to ask youre probably not ready to try it. i would just use rear brake go into a skid get real low and give it some gas slip the clutch and you better commit 100% to it so you dont get a nasty highside...
oh yea no front brake, or else its not a drift its a burnout

when i try to drift i will usually slid in and then throw the clutch, you have to make sure the bike is low to the ground or it will wheelie, and then you are gonna have to figure out how much to use the clutch to get it to start sliding and then you basically use the throttle and the bars to steer you around, they are pretty hairy sometimes and never i repeat never chop the throttle, you will be pissed if you do, thats for sure........also using tires like a D208 or maxxis will help you to learn how to start drifting, the shittier the tire the better it will slide..........good luck

Re: Drifting
I dont touch the brake at all when I do it, the secret for me seems to be getting my front wheel locked facing out and dumping the clutch to get it going. Once I have that its all quick steering, balance, and throttle control.... no brakes.....

also sometimes if its a big lot you dont even need to skid it in wiht the rear brake...just get going and start turning way low to the ground and give it gas and clutch just like your bringin a wheelie up except use a lil more gas. Dont be afriad of the throttle. Even if it gets hairy dotn be afriad...dont freak out and chop...youll get flung over and high side. Like i said dont be afraid of gas...You would much rather spin out 10 times on the clutch initiation then getting one going and chopping it. Remember to have a smooth throttle hand.
have fun...its a pretty addicting "trick" Re: Drifting
I can do some little drifts from stoplights turning left or right.
Just give it a bunch of gas like your trying to power it up, countersteer and lean into the corner much harder than you normally would.
I ****ed up once and started going into a circle and grabbed the front brake. Prolly could of rode it out but I was on the wrong side of the road.

sick pic!! lol
best way to learn is with your foot down...hookslide it in, lean it over and DUMP the clutch...then drive out of it with steering, throttle, body position. drag your foot at first for more stability.
if it highsides, lean it over more. it is better to spin out than highside. worst case scenario, give it too much gas and spin out. luckily, and knock on wood, i havent eaten **** yet.
imo, 20psi is way too low. i ride a minimum of 32 psi and am often mid 30's and have even experimented with mid 40's.
once you get it, it will make sense, just like circles.
i will say this though: it is kinda cool to go around in tight circles, but it doesnt really look any differnt than a regular burnout....i like to go around once or twice and then let it drift wide and really open it up...like a motogp racer would do.
i'll try and check back on this thread to monitor ya'lls progress.

Re: Drifting
GOOD point on the tire pressure Teach. Heres a good pic of it...
Here is when i was messing around and couldnt really get it to break lose much...I was running the normal 18-20psi i always do when im in a lot. Look closely and you can see how there is more contact patch and how the tire presses into the ground, you dont want this...

And it you wreck...wreck like this...its a little easier on you than chaos type wreck...I was going 180degrees in the other direction...just spun her out.

Re: Drifting
hahaha.. yes vetters tail says crotch is gay....
you have to have the clutch in smarty pants.. otherwise when u lock up the rear brake the bike would stall.. i tried a few on a lot that was just sealed, so it was extra slippery.. lowsiding is sweet, especially when the cage catches your shoe and pulls u down with it
