Big Sprockets vs. Not So Big Sprockets

whats the difference? Pros and Cons.

2nd question...
When u guys clutch up in 1st from almost a dead stop, do u slip the clutch and ride the brake all the way up? THis **** is hard. Im only -1/+2. This slow stuff is starting to frustrate me....

1.Keep the gears you have. They are fine for slow stuff.
2.No slipping the clutch or riding the brake on the way up.

Re: Big Sprockets vs. Not So Big Sprockets

I'm just starting to ride idle and I don't ride the brake up. I clutch up a little before bp and throttle it up smooth to the rear brake or tap the brake lightly at the top.
I have heard a few people say they learned by riding the brake but I don't think they were on it untill the bike was already on it's way up.

Master the brake it will save your ***! as for from a dead stop I would say turn your idle up some say 3K if it will go up that far and practice small wheelies working your way up just clutch it! don’t kill it but flick it always covering that clutch lever just incase and as for the brake, cover it, cover it cover it remember once you go past balance point it's only braking that’s going to save your ***. Take it slow it will come Good luck

so in order to do slow stuff you gotta get past Balance Point first and then come back to BP and ride it .. and use the brake to control yourself when your up there and use it if u get too far past BP...

i think i'm still along way's away as I'm not even at BP yet.. but its good to have in mind ...

Re: Big Sprockets vs. Not So Big Sprockets

I just started with the slower stuff now as well.. If you want to keep it slow gotta rock it past BP and get on the brake. Clutchin it up from a stand still I keep my foot over the brake and catch the bike after it comes up. Gearing it up will only make the throttle more sensitive..and harder to keep smooth...I'm +3 rear only..but its not too bad..but I kept it stock while I was learning.
