when all of you talk about overfilling 1/4 of oil...does that mean 1/4 of all oil that is in or 1/4 over min./max.? I run maybe half of min./max range over the maximum in 900rr '94 and would like to know is that ok or should I pour more oil? cuz I wouldn't like to **** this engine...I know it's a honda but...

yes it means over fill 1/4 of the total amount ur bike is supposed to hold

 

alls i know is i've ran 1 quart over in every bike i've owned. 600rr, f4i, R6.

 

I run a 900 too, and 1/4 over is safe, if you dont have enough, you will see that red light while up, it comes on at about 11 and if your rockin slow stuff it doesnt go off until you get back down. You will see it for sure!

 

in my r6 the oil would get all frothy like a dog with rabis

 

the red oil light means NO oil pressure, so if u get that, it's doin damage.. i run like half a qrt over.. i just make sure it fills the sightglass when the bike is standing up straight,

 

that means there is too much, and it's bubbling, which is just as bad as not running enough.. the oil bubbles, and it tries to **** it up, but gets air pockets instead of oil... geeeez, out of all ppl too mr mechanic

 

haha stupid stacked trannys. don't over fill the R6, it didn't help that i ran gas station oil in it either i bet.

 

pffft even i knew that i learned that in like 6th grade

 

it'd only do that when i'd scrape like 10 times in one run
