Stand up and Help...
Re: Stand up and Help...
Just something i noticed, if he's practicing Riding wheelies in a parking lot, he's probably not riding them out too far.......... I will have to agree that clutching is the way to go, power wheelies are only cool if you're racing someone and you have the lead and just want to pimp smack them as you leave them behind.
Timing is a key part to clutching it up, i've watched soooooooo many people get frustrated cause they can't get their timing down.
When you almost looped it, sounds like you were at what i call the pucker point, just past BP but before 12, takes getting used to..........
my best advice, if you are getting it up, is to have someone video tape you, so you can see how high you are and tell your body there's nothing to be scared of, plus if you lay it down, you can send me the footage for our dvd!
another pointer is to listen to the rpms, if you are gaining rpms quick, you need to get the front higher, the key is to get the front to the Bp quick so you Don't gain rpm's(the quicker you get it there, the more you have to burn to make adjustments and ride out which ='s longer wheelies). the slower you gain rpm's the closer you are to bp.............
there's my contribution, if you doubt me, then watch some of the videos on my website(www.vertlimits.com) we have alot of video's of when we first started stunting............:YEAH

I'm learning too and here is something I picked up on yesterday. I will also have to agree with everyone that said, use the clutch always and learn slow stuff first. Anyway, when I clutch up first it is kind of clutch dump/slip and I was trying to clutch up second the same way. Basically I was pulling in the clutch giving it gas and letting out the clutch, but it was almost like three different steps, clutch, gas, clutch. I read something yesterday that changed my second gear wheelies forever. What I learned is to hit the gas and engage the clutch at the same time, keep the gas going and let out the clutch, all in one motion, one real quick motion. It may seem basic to everyone else on here but it helped me to have it spelled out. Go sit on your bike in the garage and practice the motion. Also, lean back, chit will never come up if you are leaning over the bars.
I also wanted to add how learning in first helped me out with second gear. In first it is all throttle and brake keeping the bike up and it takes practice and skill too ride any considerable distance using those two things. When I was riding second gear last night the extra speed kind of freaked me out at first, but once I started getting a little more used to that they were money. I only practiced then for a little bit and I still need some work but when I got to bp the wind just held the bike and made it float, which made them cake compared to first gear.

Also any tips on riding the BP would help. I can get there in second sitting down but #1 I can't see in front of me and #2 I su(k!
Problem is I am better at wheelieing than all the guys I ride with (even though their good riders) so they can't show me how to improve.
I'm sorta stuck popping up 1st gear and working on 1st gear BP sit downs and riding second gear sit downs a little ways chasing the BP and working rear brake control.
I just wanna get off this Platou! Any tips/experience/comments would be appreciated!
PS I'm working with stock gearin and think I wanna keep it that way for a while.
