Rollin burnouts

So i searched and read all topics on how to do them, then i went off to practice. I started by not using the clutch going about 15 giving it front brake while leaning over the front looking down at the tire, and hitting some throttle. Started to spin then the front tire locked up and i kept having that problem. I got a pilot race take off with the second softest rubber number is it not a good enough tire for this

This is a question, not advice because I dont know much yet, but to do a rolling burnout, dont you just start a burnout and then ease up on the brake a little?

you got the right idea but try this.... make sure your front is warm by riding back and forth grabbin alotta brake.

then, b4 you try rollin them... do a standstill burner high rev for like 30 sec to get the rear REAL hot. This will make it spin easier cause it gets sorta greasy.

then try same as b4.... once you get the hang of the weight transfer, you wont need to heat up the rear... but ALWAYS warm up that front.

i usually get goin bout 10-15 then lean forward, apply some front brake, pull in clutch then let it out with a good bit of gas. its worked for me but im sure there are other ways of doin it.

good advice, its not a hard trick just make sure your leaning forward and then quickly take a good grip on the brake, then once you get it going play with the brake and gas a little to get them moving and controlled.

Re: Rollin burnouts

Thats what i was doing having like my toes on the peg standing up over the front end looking straight at the tire. Its just as soon as i give it some good brake the front tire locks up. Im going to try what kj said and heat it up a bit before i try it next time, so you guys say use the clutch or what?

dont just heat it up a bit.... smoke it, literally for like 30 seconds.

i should've been more clear above... the tire WILL get greasy when very hot/overheated.

Re: Rollin burnouts

I used to race cars i know about overheating the rear to get it greasy. I was talking about heating the front tire up a bit not the rear, i also read like 5 threads with people saying just to hit the throttle which is why im starting like that. I thought it was shitty brake control making the front lock up

Re: Rollin burnouts

doing a burnout gets the tire hot, hot rubber = expanded rubber = more surface friction not to mention hot rubber grips better than cold rubber.
but hey man try it however you want it can be done a million ways, do a good 2 minute revlimiter burnout, the tire will be bald, put up your rear air pressure to a good 50lbs and you'll be busting **** like teach in no time.

lean forward take all your body weight and put it over the bars and make sure the forks load give it a smooth progressive hard grip, almost like starting a stoppie and it wont lock up.
