new 636 and learning slow stuff
Re: new 636 and learning slow stuff
bruno z , what would you suggest for gearing with idle , monstar sprocket ? are you saying start out no idle , stock gearing , clutch up at dead stop and use back break but keep on the throttle as if riding like a 3rd gear street wheelie?
Re: new 636 and learning slow stuff
i have really good throttle control on the streets , and i havent tried that much on my gsxr 1000 , its an intimadating bike cus im a smaller guy and trying slow stuff ive flipped it 3 times and now it and slow stuff scares the **** out of me,,,, then i bout a 50 and figured out that is the best way to learn back break , so i havent tried it since i leardned how to use the back break , so thats why im thinking the 636 wont be as scary and be easier to ride.

636 and 03 1000 practically the same weight!!! Big guy... little guy... doesnt matter!!! STop making excuses go out and practice and stop talking about it!!! No one can teach you how to stunt you just have to go do it. Your gonna fk up you bike, you gonna wreck, and its not even close the same as riding a 50.

Idle helps to smooth the throttle but if you do not have smooth throttle controld w/out idle up you gonna miss it more and more as you progress, and your progress will be slower. So yes, use stock gearing and no idle, you can do almost everything with that "setup", and it will be easier for you to slow it and learn RB that way.
go +10 for the streets. I am -1 +16 and still use it around town.

I'd just like to recant what I said earlier about ed being full of it saying he had a -6 front sprocket. I thought he was bullsh!tting but sprocketspecialists does list sprockets in that range for GSXRS, so it's entirely possible. I blame it on my lack of familiarity with suzuki's. it looks like you can go that low on some yamahas too. Hondas being designed and engineered to be bullet proof however, won't allow for such an insanely small front. -6 down.... that's just crazy
that's just asking for a snapped chain and a cracked case or waterpump

With the long gear +3 for example, the bike doesn't have the engine speed during slow stuff to pull through at Idle, but with the +10, you can slow it down and the idle will still be up in a workable range.
