Question when setting down stand ups.
Re: Question when setting down stand ups.
depends on how fast your going...
either way make sure you have a stabilizer on your bike or your asking for trouble.
I like my 8 click GPR Stabilizer

I agree with kane about the stabalizer, but I find that the more weight I put over the bars ,the more shake I get.Try this, get going about 40 or 50mph not wheelieing just rolling now take your hands off the bars and lean forward and you'll see the bars start to shake into a tank slapper, then lean way back and they will stabalize. lean back a little when you set the wheelie down and they should be smooth as butter
Re: Question when setting down stand ups.
i roll full throttle on the gas right when its about 5 inches from the ground then roll totally off..and on the highway i set myself up for the landing knowing it might shake a little
Re: Question when setting down stand ups.
Yeah, I try to keep em straight as possible, but its a little difficult because I think I have a slightly bent triple, I posted some pictures up here on it before...
Its like when riding straight, the triple is ****ed to the right a little bit. So maybe when Im sitting it down seeing it as straight, its really a little off to the right.
THink that could be the problem? Ill try the leaning back solutions though. Im think Im starting to get hte hang of em a bit, I was out riding all day on backroads practicin em after the cars passed by.
by the way, how do the stabalizers work anyways? They just prevent headshake ?

Re: Question when setting down stand ups.
back in my 600rr days i loved setting the front wheel down alittle bit crooked on purpose.. it was a bad habbit but i never got any slappers luckily and i ran a take off front tire so you could feel the front end flex alot and it'd smoke like a bisotch
Re: Question when setting down stand ups.
If your going about 40 mph, let go of the handle bars, and you get shake, then that means your HEAD BEARINGS NEED tightening!!! That is a MAINTENANCE that many riders overlook.... Bad head bearing could cause lots of problems anytime your front or rear wheel comes off the ground.
If your head bearing is good, then just make sure your wheel is straight and give a little gas when you put it down.....

Thats what Ive been clutchin em up at, probably around 40-45, Ill see if its those bearings, probably just me throwing it down a little crooked, Ill see whats up tomorrow.
Re: Question when setting down stand ups.
If you loosen up your arms a little but keep a grip when you land them it will help. It will straighten up by itself without headshake. The problem is when you are tense it jolts the bike when you land the front.
I agree it does help to blip the throttle a little before you land it.

A good way to make sure you setting them down straight. Now matter what happens (ie the wind blows you, lose Bp, whatever) make sure you get you chest over the gas cap before you set it down. This will help make sure the bars are straight and you wont be leaning of to one side or the other which can also cause a bad shake. GPR dampers r life savers 2. And like everyone said above roll back on the gas just as you about to set it down and brace youself for any shake that could happen.

Dope, thanks for the responses, I wanna get hte good habits down while im still learning, ya know?
I didnt know about alotta the stuff including the arm tense thing, that might be a little bit of the problem, Im pretty tense when trying to ride them. I know because after Im done riding, my right forearm and wrist is worn the hell out.
