keeping it up!!!
keeping it up!!!
I need help... how the hell do i keep my wheelies up.... i can ride em out in first... but i bring em up in 2nd but cant keep them up... and what is the best way to learn stand ups??? i do all of my wheelies sitting down... what psi should i drop my rear to? alot of people have told me to drop it and they will ride smoother and easier.. what ever that means i still havent done it. i wanna be a highway junkie dammit but i need some wheelie viagra!!!
Re: keeping it up!!!
highway wheelies are bunches of fun, the secret behind riding a good long wheelie is that balance point
chances are you're not bringing it up high enough and your rpms are climbing like crazy, so the wheelie only lasts 10 seconds or less.
once you find that sweet spot and stay within the balance point its a beautiful thing, and peoples jaws will drop,
you'll feel like you're going to loop when first learing it, but thats completely normal, because your front wheel is 5 feet off the ground!
standing up is the preffered method, because you have more of a sense of balance being ontop of the bike as opposed to the bike being on top of you.
i would only drop the tire pressure down to about 30, it works better that way because you have more surface area to work with resulting in more stability. you dont want to drop it too much below that unless you are going really slow....

Re: keeping it up!!!
i read it but it doesnt really explain body positioning unless i missed that... i have a bad habit with the selective reading and listening.. lol but yeah... thanx for the advice i will try a lil more without lowering psi... how can i overcome the scary *** feelin of feeling like your gonna loop??? i know this is my prob but cant overcome...
Re: keeping it up!!!
also.. staggered stance will help you find bp... as your body will not feel as out of place as your feet do together... you can test this theory on the ground put ur feet next to each other and lean back... you will fall over... now stagger ur stance and lean back... thats why i dont like using the front pegs.. but it gets much better with practice.. that is for sure
Re: keeping it up!!!
i tried a staggered stance last night and your right it didnt feel as awkward... i tried the picture thing also... but seeing as how my friend sux at taking pix they are all of me when i am letting it back down or right before i start the wheelie... but thanx alot for your advice!
