Low speed oscilation.

Tonight I went out with the goal of hitting the 12 bar, dropped the tire pressure WAAY the **** down (mabey too much) and then was clutch them up at about 3mph. 954 with stock gearing. Bike would come up nicely but when I would try and ease it past the balance point once I got off the throttle the rear tire would start to oscilate side to side bigtime. I was sitting down, tried sitting up by the tank or on the back of the seat and it did'nt change. Any thoughts on what's causing this?

Re: Low speed oscilation.

The choppier you are with the throttle will cause the side to side wobble.

Re: Low speed oscilation.

Low tire pressure can cause wobbles. Put more air in and see if that fixes it.

Re: Low speed oscilation.

if your trying to hit it for the first time do it stand up staggared.... slow sit downs tend to me more wobbly becuase you cant use as much body english to keep it straight.......

and dont try to force it onto the bar, you want to be riding along and pull in the clutch to set it down, then hit the break and clutch out to get off

Re: Low speed oscilation.

ya try staggered like f4stunna said easier to control and to bail if needed. lot of ppl swear by sitdowns for learning but it was way easier for me to learn staggered then it was all down hill from there. +1 on smooth throttle cant chop it on slow wheelies that will cause lots of wobble

sitdowns are a beast....I'm glad I'm decent at them now after months of working on them.

Re: Low speed oscilation.

The one thing I learned about sitdowns is if you can really learn your bike and pop the bike straight up to BP. I find that if you pull a sit down up and try to get to BP rather than snapping it up and catching it on the brake, you have to use a lot of body english to stabilize the bike up to BP. Personally, I like to just snap it to BP, then I kind of stick my knees rather than grip the tank b/c I use my legs to stabilize the bike.

Don't get down dude, it takes a while to get sitdowns... I still don't have them yet, they are a pain but once you get them you can do a lot from sitdowns.

+1 on the body english
i started learning standing up staggered, but i wish i learned sitdowns first.

the transition of learning one thing before the other took alot longer than i think it wouldve if it was the other way around
