f4i set up questions(TOS & HANDBRAKE)
here we go again with these bikes
ok so i jumped the red and green t.o.s. wires and still don't have anything. no fuel pump priming and no starter. double checked fuses, connections, everything. any suggestions.
HANDBRAKE: if anyone is running a dual caliper set up you may be able to answer this. with mine my extra caliper is at the far tip of the swing arm and more towards the bottom. how long of a line do i need. i tried to run a string to measure it but there was so much slop and slack i doubt it'd be accurate. i know taylor has 81 inc on a gsxr1000, but thats a longer bike than mine. so anyone have this set up?

Re: f4i set up questions(TOS & HANDBRAKE)
what do you mean? i just put a wire in the connectors temporarily to see if it worked and it didn't. they are the red in top corner and green in top corner.

i used that link to the t.o.s and those are the wires i jumped. but theres nothing. no fuel pump, no starter?
screw summer im ready to ride now, well maybe not today its pretty cold.

Re: f4i set up questions(TOS & HANDBRAKE)
ive never heard it run. it was a crashed bike i bought. if i hit the starter wires with a screwdriver it cranks, and when i was taking the front sproket off the motor turned over. i know its something stupid not hooked up or missing i just cnat figure it out. ya, john the main fuse what kind of dumbass would overlook that?
Re: f4i set up questions(TOS & HANDBRAKE)
I don't know where its at but there is a small sensor near either the stator side or clutch side that for some reason if that sensor is not hooked up the bike won't turn over. The sensor either hooks up to a main wiring harness or goes directly into the block, I can't remember. I don't know what it is, but I've read somewhere on these forums a while back that this sensor was the problem for this guy and it sounded just like your scenario.
With the handbrake setup from what I've read also in past forums the rear master cylinder in Hondas doesn't have enough UMPH to supply good solid pressure to both the rear brake lever and a hand brake lever... this is b/c of the sheer volume of the amount of fluid in the lines, plus the rear master cylinder has difficulties pushing fluid "uphill" rather than downhill. So far, the best setup I've ever heard of is with a 1000rr Master Cylinder mounted up front, upside down with either a bango fitting (not recommened but works) or a seperate brake caliper all together welded to the original bracket that mounts the rear brake caliper (best results and doesn't give you that sloppy feel, or the feeling of having to pump up the rear brake).
Just my 2cents

The rear master has NOTHING to do w/ the handbrake master. And it certainly does NOT ever push the fluid "uphill" to the handbrake for pressure.
The rear master only supplies pressure to the rear caliper. Thats it. When you press the pedal it closes off the hb line completely.

1krr master w/ banjo single caliper (full throttle setup) is the ****. If you have sloppy feel or have to pump it up you didn't bleed it correctly. Re: f4i set up questions(TOS & HANDBRAKE)
I think you completely mis-read my post.... some people have tried to use the rear brake master cylinder as the only source of line pressure to supply both a standard rear brake pedal lever, and a hand brake. From what I've seen and heard this won't work b/c the master cylinder does not have enough umph to supply line pressure b/c of the volume in the line. I'm no expert... this is just what I've read and heard through mutual friends when it comes to F4i's and 929's.
Also... with the 1000rr master cylinder, from what I understand from my friend Zackie Chan who sports a 636 with a 1000rr master cylinder he said he tried to use only a single rear caliper and it was a sloppy "feel".... so he had a buddy of his in Wyoming weld up another rear caliper right next to the existing stock caliper and now Zackie Chan swears by it. And I trust what Zackie Chan says b/c (A) He works in the tech dept at Honda in Arizona, (B) Has rode with Darius at a local show and (C) has owned more bikes than half the people on here.
So like I said... I'm no expert, but this is simply what I've been exposed to. If I'm wrong, then whatever....

Re: f4i set up questions(TOS & HANDBRAKE)
Your wrong, i know several people with single caliper systems that use the motoheaven fitting......works fine, in fact they also do plenty of off the pegs coasters, and kill them at that. I also use a single caliper system, although i use the mor expensive full throttle set up.....my **** is real strong too.....i use 1 finger for all my circle combos and such.
Zach is a friend of mine too......his system is also nice, strong and progressive. its all a matter of opinion, and what you feel most comfortable using.

I have a 1000rr radial/fullthrottle setup and I know exactly how it works... only time you get a sloppy or mushy feeling is if there's air in the line. And if you have to pump it up there's definetly air in there.
Adding another caliper will make it easier to bleed... so that much may be accurate. But when your talkin bout "i heard this" or "so and so said that", there's lots of room for mis-information to get mixed in.
Re: f4i set up questions(TOS & HANDBRAKE)
Stuff that I "heard" and "what that person said" were people like Zach who were standing there showing me on their bike what they did to it... then after riding it they say they didn't like that setup. I understand completely how master cylinders work... I don't think you understand what I'm trying to say or I'm not explaining it very well.
LivingCanvas... I didn't know using a single caliper setup would work like that, from Zach and others I've spoken with first hand having a single caliper just gives them a mushy feel. I never said I was a pro KJ, this was just what I've seen... but there are thousands of stunters out there who do it differently. These are just the things I've been exposed to in my town and from all the people I've been stunting with around here... this is just what they "prefer". Sorry Motorcycle God if it didn't come out right!

Re: f4i set up questions(TOS & HANDBRAKE)
Whoa there buddy... chill it out a little. I never accused you of being "pro"
Listen, I'm sure Zach has a great setup. And I don't doubt he told you all about it.
But heres the problem: This makes absolutely no sense, and is not how a single caliper setup works. The rear master has NO EFFECT WHAT SO EVER on the presure of the handbrake line.
So where ever you read this, it is wrong. And when I see blatent mis-information, I call it out.
Sorry.

Re: f4i set up questions(TOS & HANDBRAKE)
Ok... then I think we have our wires crossed b/c I thought you were being a ****head, so sorry. What I am saying though is that I have seen people take a brake fluid reservoir and a front brake lever and mount it on the clutch handle side, then they run a long line (steel braided the times I've seen it) down to the Master Cylinder on the right side. I think, I'm not sure, but I think they get a bango fitting and just tap into the line that is already going to the rear brake caliper from the rear brake master cylinder.... so there is 2 lines running off the master cylinder, with one caliper, and a handbrake upstream with a front brake reservoir slapped on there. I'm trying to explain this the way I've seen it, which is only a handful of times... I'm not trying to "mis inform" anyone, just saying what I've heard.... but according to LivingCanvas it can be done, so its cool, I learned something new so this will save me time and money on my next bike.
Re: f4i set up questions(TOS & HANDBRAKE)
ok 2 realy stupid things to check with your wiring problems . 1 the grey plug with the tip over sensor isnt hooked up to the throttle plus is it ? ie there are two gray plugs that will fit for the wires coming off what im 99% sure is teh trottle / kill switch . that would cause this . it has to be plugged into the plug that is next to the key plug .
another thing to check is teh fuse thats in the starter solinoid . its under the red plug thats on top of the starter relay thing .
as to the hand brake .. im pretty sure my frinds has a 82'' line on his

Yeah we're not getting mad about it.....the problem I have is that your giving advise based on things you dont really know about.
The fitting works well, and i have many friends that kill it to prove it. In my experience, the biggest factor that affects how strong a handbrake is, is what you choose for the front master cylinder. And always make sure ts bled right. If you bleed a system correctly, and choose a good frt master like the cbr1000, you'll have a good strong HB, no matter if your using a fitting, a full throttle unit, or a dual caliper system.
