Found BP!

Ive been doing wheelies for about a mounth, and ive fianaly found the ***** to get it to BP. Its a good feeling, but from what ive seen on this forum its a combination between brake and small throttle adjustments to keep it there. I must say, my weak point is the rear brake. I cover it and all, but I just never use it. Is this why it is so hard for me to keep it at BP? Should I just practice using the brake for awhile, or is it just a safety? Do you guys use the brake alot or is it just as a back up safety?

Re: Found BP!

work on throttle control.thats what keeps you there.cover the break or start tapping it some so you can feel how it responds and get used to using it. Practice, practice, practice.

Re: Found BP!

with highway wheelies you dont want to use any brake at all.
but for the slow ones you gotta bring it past balance point and just give it a little tap tap tappy.

Re: Found BP!

yeah. practice makes perfect so they say, but with this sport you have to be 100% dedicated because you definitely wont see results right away. i'm no pro or anything, but i've got my slow sitdowns and standups on lock, and it took me a long long time to learn that stuff. i'm startin to work on my scrapes now, and some nights i get so frustrated i want to put a bullet in my gas tank.

You should practice it every day over and over and over till it's a reflex that requires no thought.... and your better off the quicker you learn it.

brake is used for everything all the time... cept highway power wheelies

Re: Found BP!

i like danger daves advice, I myself am 100% commited and learned back brake this winter, now I got to check my wobbles at the door!!! I simply went to a parking lot and clutched up some 1st gear 5 m.p.h. wheelies and either looped out or found out how much a little back brake can make loading your bike a little less painfull!!! GOOD work bro.. keep it up and make sure you were plenty of gear!!!!

Re: Found BP!

yeah it took me a while to learn, i didnt have the funds for a fiddy so i just had to learn the hard way, one time i accidentally 12'd and it felt like it wanted to stall so i was like aggghhh!!!, and i jumped off. and i still have a fricken crack in my frame from rattrappin like 10million times. so yeah if you have access to a quad or somethin use that so you can gain some skillz to crossrefference and any mistakes you make wont be frames and subframes.
