I wanna know what diameter and gauge pipe and I should use. Also for those guys that built ur own, did you use a pipe bender or did you just heat it up to get the shape? Any tips would help, thanks in advance guys.

 

i use .120 wall 1 1/4" tube. dont get DOM its not worth it. i use a bender.

 

I made my owntoo and i used a bender too i didn't have one but the local no-name muffler shop did it for $2 a bend for me i didnt think that was too bad but you can buy a shitty bender for like $90 new from harbor freight

 

yeah harbor freight is where is got all my **** when we made the first few cages.

i have cash, im not really worried about a few people building cages. i helped out NWstuntbike when he first started his company too. the more the better, its just gets more people riding which gets more potential customers.

Thanks for the heads up on that pipe size, I got a pretty good steel wholesaler around my area. But where did you get ur pipe at? Is it somethin you just picked up at home depot or did you get ur $hit at a whole saler too?

Try a Metal Supermarkets if you have them. I work at a steel service centre (buy direct from the steel mills and distribute) If you walk into one some of the small ones will take walk in business.

How much pipe do you end up using in a "905" style cage? Im gonna run out today and look around to see what I can find. I just dont wanna come up short on pipe 90% threw it..

 

get a 20 ft pipe at any local steel supply, just look it up on yahoo local or something. cage will be about 10-15 ft in steel. should cost about $40 for the tube.

 

$40 bucks. I hope that is for 4130. I can get mild steel tubing like that for 20 bucks from a guy here in MN.

 

yes its for 4130. i think its 1.38/ ft to be exact. welded tube, not DOM. DOM is just not worth it

if you want to get specific, its going to cost 27.60 plus tax for some .120 wall 1 1/4" round tube. thats in CA, material & everything else is a little more out here.
