hey, im put a Sony digital8 DCR-TRV260 in lay-away tonight and was wondering what your guys' thoughts are. its a fairly cheap camera though.

Not a bad litte camera to get started with! Tim and I use a similar camera in our videos and they do a nice job for the cost.

The only thing you might want to check into is the Audio/Video Inputs. On the SonyStyle site it says that it has a mini jack and S-Video that can be used for OUTPUT, but it says it cannot be used for INPUT. On both Sony Camcorders that we have, the mini jack can be used for input and output. There is no switch, it just does it automaticaly.

It might not be a big deal, but if that jack really doesnt support video in, then you won't be able to hook up a helmet cam in the future. Good luck and don't forget to get a IEEE1394 Fire Wire cable and make sure your PC supports firewire!
