Stunted the quad today
if thats what you want to call it. I had washed the car and it was pretty nice out so I decide to ride the quad up and down the street. I kept it in first and kept hitting the throttle but every time it went up I got scared and let off and it slammed down. Well thinking of what Vic was saying of just staying on the gas, I did and I went all the way back, scraped the bar and the quad started to go right into my neighbor's truck so I cant remember what happened after that but I fell off the back and the quad landed on its side. I should have hit the rear brake but I wasnt thinking. Next time though, I'll practice in the grass.
What tips can you give a newbie? I got a Raptor by the way/

Re: Stunted the quad today
wear a helmet, plenty of seat time, cover your rear brake. I started out by standing and puting my foot in the grab bar. You should get a scrape bar made too. try running about 2 lbs. of air in your rear tires also.

To avoid this, I would suggest finding a decent area to practice in, and purposely nail the gas to bring it up, and when it gets to balance point or past, nail the brake to bring it back down. If you practice this for a while you won't even have to think about hitting the brake...it will just be a natural reaction.
I learned to ride wheelies before I learned how to use the brake, but learning the brake first is a lot better.
Oh, and don't forget to pull in the clutch.
Re: Stunted the quad today
Like he said its all about brake control. The raptor isnt the best quad to start on but it is very do-able. Find a big field so there is nothing to hit and falling on grass is alot nicer than falling on pavement. Nail the gas to put it up but be easy oin the throttle to maintain the wheelie
Good luck
