Raptor Starter question
Raptor Starter question
We just put a new starter in the raptor not too long ago and it died. It spins and you cna hear it but it doesnt catch so we have to pull start. Does anyone know what could be wrong? and if so what is needed. We are thinking about buying another new starter, but if its an easy fix then that'll be better off.
Re: Raptor Starter question
yeah i was pulling him that one day at the airport.....not to sure it wasnt grabbing..i dont know if the starter has a solenoid or not....you may just have gotten a bunk starter,,,but then again i have no clue.
Re: Raptor Starter question
the bearings in raptor starters are known to break alot.......if you are on the bike and start rocking it back and fourth while trying to start it will start up......unless its another problem???

Re: Raptor Starter question
I believe we have tried rockin it Im not sure....but we just pull or push.
Nasty we got it from Cycle Werkz....go figure...but at first was working then dunno what happened. And of course CW wont take it back to fix it and Chris doesnt want to deal with their POS asses again so. I found a starter thru ebay for 125. But it now option. So if we're better off buying a new one then we will.....
we havent torn it apart yet to see exactly what is wrong. Dont have time right now really.

Re: Raptor Starter question
i had the same problem with mine it is the started clutch gears that go bad yamaha told me that it was a manufactor defect and that they re made the parts so it doesnt happen im a bringing mine to them this weekend and making them fix it for free since my warrenty is up they might say no but since they said it is a manufactor defect that menas that they should
Re: Raptor Starter question
It is your one way clutch. Mine went out about a month ago. The clutch doesnt engage the fly wheel so that is why it is just spining. I bought an LA design one way for like $180.00. Go to raptor tranny.com to order them and to see how to install it. You can also see the quick fix for it so you dont have to buy anything just yet.
