motorcross or cross country???
ive done both and to me mx is MUCH more demanding, i get way more tired running mx then xc, all the jumps and whoops take alot out of you, if your fast, its not as easy as you think.
im not saying that it doesnt take skill or u dont get tired running xc but......i think mx takes alot more endurnce then xc.

Speed and skill between both is dabatable. You can't see what's infront of you all the time in C.C. as in MX. And speed I believe you have more speed in C.C. than in MX. Some MX track's are more open than others w/less airtime. Both SX and MX you have alot of jumps which keeps you in the air and takes off the speed factor. C.C.alot of time during certain openings the bikes are top gear WFO and some areas are through trees. You just don't have that in MX and if you do it's usually shorter spirts than C.C.....IMO
Both are technical....but I would never say that you would have better skills over a C.C. rider because you ride MX or SX.

Put a top of their class mx racer in a XC race, and they'd be the top of the XC class too.Xidium - I think we get around 220-250 entries at Southwick. Lowest entry day of the year was I think about 175. Weather was questionalbe, and apparently all them 2strokers had their skirts on....

no doubt the new yami is VERY fast i really like it as well,,,but.....have fun weldin that frame every few months, there is NO way that frame will hold up like my walsh or your lonestar for that matter.if your a pro and u want to continue to race pro, u have no choice but to ride a production 4 stroke.
think about it, it cost me about $15g's to build the walsh..done
not a new yami cost about $7g's just for the bike, then you got suspention, a arms, etc..........to make a full racer u need to replace just about the same amount of parts u did on your lonestar but your still left with a stock frame, and all the parts your buyin is gonna get you real close to $15g's.
not worth it to me.
as i said no doubt the yami is fast, but its not an all out racer like my full walsh bike or your yami, and u put a rider with the same amount of rider skills as me agaist me on my R and there is no way ill get smoked, it will be an even race.
the yami is fast but i would say my r is equally as fast. ask jones, he one the #1 plate in mx on an R again FULL race yami's and crf 450's.
and yes the reason they dont make 2 stroke quads like they used is emmision reans, its a fact.dirtbike racing gerates a ton of cash, that why they still make race dirtbikes.

Alright finally someone that has some intellagence!! yes you have good points but as to say you spend 15g's after you fix one up is not right I bought mine for $6400 out the door and then got the front end for $600 pipe cost me $350 and the tires and wheels were around $600 so that brings me to around $7900 not bad for a race ready bike. And for the frame yes you are right it will not hold up as long but that is the thing you just have to deal with and I am sure that when mine starts to break it will be reinforced no problem. You are prolly right on the emissions but if they wanted too they could make them anyway it is just to much trouble

also you make as many gussets as u want there is still no way its gonna be half as strong as a walsh or lsr.
dont for get its also possible (and dont think it i cant be done cause it can) that the pro frames my look stock as far as apearence but might be built with a stronger material then mild steel such as 4130.

im talking about build new, you have to put them on some sort of equal ground as a start, but your case even proves my piont more!you spent $8g's and your bike is pretty much DONE full race bike, now to do the same thing with a new yami its gonna cost you almost $15g's.

How is that njorv park? I have directions and everything to get there, but I have never gone....you think it would be worth the drive from Dover to go check it out? PM me when you get a chance bro....
I used to race 4stroke A for a year and a half, in the Mid atlantic series. Have a 440ex, only thing stock is the frame and steering stem. But got out of shape, plus it was real expensive racing 2-3 times a week without a heavy sponsor. So I took up wheelies. Its cheaper.
here is a pic of my 440 w/some 20s on it.
