Was just at a midwest series race this weekend and the YFZ450s were spankin everything from beginner to expert classes.

I think this might be my first post here. I just came to check this forum out cause you have the biggest variety of videos and all kinds of people here. Anyway. The yfz450 is faster then the z but it still doesnt seem to matter cause the z is still winning the races. Also my only comparison with the yfz450 is maybe like a 4-stroke banshee or something. They are fast but the z can be made faster with the extra money you save. Plus the z came out a year before so you can get one even cheaper. I got mine for 4,700 with the extra money i could **** on a piped or w/e yfz450.

But as it lays right now the yfz IS FASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait for the z450 it will be the same thing all over but suzuki will be the faster stock quad.

 

who ever said that his z beat a yfz 450 is one lying bastard because i have a yfz and a raptor and a former owner of a z400 and there is no way in hell a z can take a 450 in a circle track come on now!!

 

The 450 doesnt DOMINATE everywhere, its close in all catagories.

i was a on z400 , my buddy was on a YZF450 , in a drag race the yzf just walked away from me and i blew him away off the line , if that helps any , the rider makes a big differnce also

On hard pack the yzf has a good 2 bike legth advantage over my bike out of the hole, but after 3rd (when I grab traction) I start to pull on them, In the sand.....buh bye thumpers, yes banshees are cool. the yzf isnt even in the same catagory as a z-400 stock for stock, they have a little more power than a slowhundred ex.

 

Yo da yfz would smoke the z400 any day! I rode one there very good 4 doing wheelies but i would bet alot of money on da yfz 450 on taking da z400. I stilll like my Raptor better!

 

the yfz wood kill the z off the line but i think that the Z would keep up pretty good later in the run

Whoever is talkin about beating a 450 has obviously been smokin that crazy ****. There isn't a bike out there stock-for-stock that will beat the 450. I own 2 of them and have ridden the rest. The Rappy's and Honda 450's are the only ones in it vicinity near the end.

and banshees are weird, i dont like how they feel, the honda is more comfortable then the yami, but the yami is faster, and the honda has a familiar 400ex feel to it

 

Z-400's can be made a cool bike, I've ridden & decked out a YFZ & sold it for a decked 250R...and I had a raptor before that. you can't compare Doug Gusts Z-400 to anything else..thats like comparing my 270R with a stock one..it's not even the same bike really....I have long travel elka shocks & I love them but even the elka's on dougs bike are just shells..all the internals are done completely custom by Noleen....don't get me wrong elka rocks but my shocks & his have nothing in common but the shell..and thats just it his bike has a Z-400 shell.....and stock for stock the Z-400 will get pumped no question..riders being close or Equal, But I do agree the YFZ are over hyped unless your only doing Motocross.....Oh & also this YFZ beat raptors all day..I've had both, piped them both & done it all....The YFZ has tighter track gears so it accelerates better..and the raptor is better for top end speed....once agian is just a choice Track or Trail......thats all it comes down too, if you've got coin the Raptor can be make way more power then you can from the YFZ...No replacement for displacement.

 

I think a few people have said it, it's the riders, so I dunno what all the fuss is about, maybe the guy on the 450 doesn't know how to drive clutch. I love my KFX though, but I gotta admit that the Yamaha 450 is a SWEET quad, but I've never driven one. I have been on the Honda 450 and it pulls for sure, but there's little details (a-arms, suspension, looks) that make the YZF sweeter then the TRX.

As far as Doug Gust (I don't think this has been mentioned), he has a Yoshimura 450 kit on his bike, making it equal to both 450's, plus he has machanics tuning his bike to make it better all the time, plus he's been riding for soooooo long, it's not even like comparing people racing in pits on the weekend.

 

I've ridden both and don't own either so i'm unbiased. I got a buddy who has an 04 Banshee, and he's been riding for a long time. And another friend who just bought a z400 with a white brothers pipe. I figured the banshee would win because of experience, but over and over again the z400 took him by about a bike length or a little more.

 

trx450r is close to yfz power but has a smoother ride.raptor and 400 ex are most comfortable to ride.yfz450 beats all in stock form.z400 are weak in my opinion.banshees just down right own all in power.i do some dirt ridin but i mostly hill shoot sand and flat drag sand.i personally ride a 97 banshee 4mm stroker that makes 80 rwhp and 43 ft lbs.http://www.planetsand.com/memberphot...9-100_0309.JPG
