that time probably 2nd... then a friend told me to run the whole track in 3rd and thats what i do and i clear almost every jump there is one step up that im affraid to do cause of the length of time you are in the air! its insane!

lol yea it would, ive cased it pretty good and landed fine, but if i nose dived, that would be whole nother story its a high 2nd gear jump, we measured it at about 25 feet lip to mid landing. i want to make it taller and alot longer of a launch, and i would like to extend the landing a good 15 feet so its safer and bigger. i havent hit it in about a year because its weatherd so bad. after this winter ill get out there and start shoveling

There is no way stock for stock a 400 is gonna out run a 450! The 450 is now the best quad ever built even better than my full lone star 250r that I just sold.

And bling he is right let of the gas a little and it will jump more level but when you do that you will be coming up short so you need to shift up a gear to carry your speed to get the distance back up, the brake thing works real well too on the 2 strokes as they have less tourqe then the 4's but once you learn the 4 it makes it nice just to roll up to the jump and back off the gas no clutch or brake.

In my opinion Honda makes the best quads. 250R, 400EX, and now 450R.
If I was a Yammi guy I'd be all over their 450 quad. But I think most people know in a straight line, a Z is faster than a 400EX, a Raptor is faster than a Z, a Yammy 450 is faster than all of them. It's all preferance.

......didnt read through any of the rest of the posts just this first one BUT IF you did beat a yfz450 with a z400 then the damn guy riding the 450 didnt know WTF he was doing or he had no legs and couldnt shift out of first or he just couldnt ride around on a circle track but putting both of those wheelers together and locking up that 450 would spank that a$$ and I am not just being biased against the z400 either ... my fav mx rider is Doug Gust who is a Suzuki rider.... NOW no one get their panties in a bunch this is just an opinion... I have been loyal to HONDA for a while now and still sporting the honda fiddy BUT when came to the 450 the yamaha IMO was a better choice..... I have ridden both of them and liked the yamaha more... so that is why I own one now.... cant say that I am biased with any particular fourwheeler except having one I like better... when it came to the 400ex that was the SHIAT and one of the most reliable quads I have had....

 

If your gonna stunt, get the z or the kfx, if your gonna race get the honda 450. Im not a fan of yamaha one bit. Ive riddin the raptor and it sucks on a wheelie, always starvin for gas, dont know if the yfz does but the raptor could use some help.

 

i will agree with that statement because i own an 03 z400 and an 89 quadzilla but anyways every sunday i go out in ride at the pit near my house and we do drag racing and all that and my z400 pulled away from 4 raptors and a banshee and i would hope atleast one of those 5 guys on quads knows how to ride either just as good or better than me im 18 these guys are like late 20`s early 30`s so if you ask me yamaha isnt doin so well for themselves if a 400cc suzuki can beat 350twin 2-strokes and 660cc fours-needless to say when my big boy comes out anything that thinks they can come close to me gets walked......... :YEAH

gumby talks to tim farr all the time..sure u all know tim farr so....this is what ive learned..

basically rigth now the 450 and hondas 450 r the top machines out there, they will smoke all in racing stock of coarse, u can put money in ne thing and make it crazy...

he says the honda once bulit by factory for his race, has better suspension than the 450..

but either way, the 450 yam and honda, will smoke the z400 or 400ex in a race..

now of coarse, someone can go out on a z and beat a 450..thast the rider though....u put a pro rider out there on each, and his times will b faster on 450...

for some people there times might b faster on z...its all depends on rider....

I own both a Z400 and a YFZ450. If I had'nt blown 2nd gear out of it I would have raced it this weekend. The raptor is a waste of money, 660cc and to top heavy. Where you gonna use all the power at? The Z400 is a awsome stunt quad for wheelies and what such, but if your gonna make it a racer have fun dropping all that money into a suspension, I use mine Z400 for the street. As for my 450 I blew second gear out and had to race my Z400. To go from racing against new TRX450's, predotor's, raptors, KFX's, banshee's, even the incredable250r's................they ain't got nothin' on a YFZ450.
