****! ATV Broke! help!
OK.
Last weekend I was in a moat of mud up to seat height on my 2003 Suzuki Eiger 400 4x4 Automatic (LTA400F) and when I got out it wouldn't crank over, because.. my friend says, I let off the gas when I was going through. Anyway so I had gotten pulled out by a winch and when it woudln't crank over my friend proceeded to rock the ATV and then it started up, and got better throughout the day.. going slow, then fast, then faster.. then normal (55mph).
Well it had been normal for a few days then yesterday I was out riding and it started doing something it has done before in a diffrent way, knocking.. clicking.. grinding.. etc.
Usually if I shift from neutral to high without letting the revs come down it grinds then jerks foward. Well today not only did the idle seem high as it was rolling foward w/o using gas it woudln't go right in HIGH it kept jerking back and fourth, exp. if I varied speed. Another problem or same thing in example, is that I was going down rolling hills and let off the gas.. when letting of the gas it jerked foward like it went to high and wouldn't go above 30mph until I kept steady throttle and slowly let it gain speed.
If anyone can help me out I'd appreciate it as me and my father are going to either try the draining the v-belt cover but I don't know the symptons so I don't know if there is water in there or not.

ok,, lesson #1 if a vehicle is submerged in water to the extent the exhaust was completely under water,, CHANGE THE OIL immediately. never let it sit. at least drain it till you can afford a new filter and oil if your broke. Lesson #2 POssibly not a garuntee you may have dropped a float needle into your carb. the symptoms sound somewhat like what happens when a needle wiggles loose and drops into your jet on the carb. Runs Jerky. low acceleration etc.. i hope for your sake its only the carb issue. if ya got water in the block and didnt change the oil. Anything is possible internally. Sorry to say. Hope everything works out for ya RPM. keep us informed as to the progress of your repair.
