How to steer on back wheels.....

Hi guys this is my first post On to my question, how are you guys steering those super long wheelies? My longest to date is around a mile and a half but it was on a completely flat surface. The roads around here have a hump in the middle and the bike wants to head for the ditches after a few hundred feet . Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.
(please don't crack on my Vforce, I know most people think they are a terrible stunt quad but I'm 6'5" and 260 pounds, so I need it to be BIG.)

Re: How to steer on back wheels.....

18 people have looked so far and no one has any pointers for me? I assume you have to lean the direction you want to go. I try hanging as far out in the direction I wanna go and sometimes it steers and sometimes it doesn't. Is this normal? I've tried tire pressure from 2-5 psi and still the same results. Is my quad and me just too heavy to do this consistently? I've tried yanking on one side of the handle bars and pushin on the other and that seems to help some. Maybe I'm expecting to much.......

upper body, shift it to the right or left whatever way you want to go. and i have to do it alot because im skinny, and take a little bit of air out of the tires and soften them up. just a little bit though.

Re: How to steer on back wheels.....

Does the type of tires have any effect on this? I would think a stock type tire would have more give and would be easier to steer. My bike came factory with holeshots and the side walls on those are kinda stiff.
Thanks for all the help so far.

body weight

if you ride fis pressing your foot down in the opposite direction and pulling the bars to the side you want to turn helps too

Re: How to steer on back wheels.....

3 suggestions that will have you steering like a **** :YEAH

first ...you can only move your upper body so far...cause you have to be covering the throttle... it's about getting you frikkin HIPS way out there...whichevwer way you want to steer...

second... you have a RHB stock , dont you ??? hehe...if so....Both feet on rear bar....AND getting yourhips out there (to the right or the left...whichever way you're steering) BOTH FEET on the rear bar steers Way better than Merkstep (left foot on rear bar , right foot covering rear brake)

3rd thing.... too low of tires OR too high of tires Does NOT steer good....there is an in between that steers the best (but it is different for different tires )

So ...in conclusion....Use methods 1 and 2 with your stance and body english.... and test different tire pressures.... I think it will be about 4 PSI...but could be as low as 2.5 or as high as 6 (if you're a big Boy...and the quad is heavy and **** ...ya ' know ? )

Have Fun out there

I'll be testing this tommorow afternoon:YEAH

Could you guys tell me a name of a trick? I seen it in one of the CVboys videos and I've been rockn it for about a month and dont even know what its called.
Its where you stand on the seat and put your left foot on the left handle bar grip. Oh and your left hand is in the air (no hander) make sense? I had a couple people ask what its called and I don't know

Re: How to steer on back wheels.....

You have to correct early and wait for it to steer and lean hard. When you steer (quad) what your doing is squishing the tire on one side so it is a smaller circumfrance. So it takes a few revolutions of the tire to start to turn.
Run your tires a little low on air and it will steer better !
Good luck !
