Mini DV camcorder q's

What are you guys using to record your vids, I'm not looking to make DVD's to sell, just a good quality to share with friends, put up on youtube...

This is what I'm looking at.

Do any of you know if this will have good clarity, 'cuz I see some pretty pixelly vids on youtube, and I don't want that. Now that I have my MacBook, I'd really like to f*ck around with editing a bit. Any advice? Or any other comparable cams in this price range?

Remember also the uality of those video's is not dependent on the clarity of the camera nessisarly, but rather how many mb are allowed to be downloaded to the server. In our editing software there is a prompt screen when rendering to complete it on quality. There you can choose how big of a file (or how ******* long it takes to download of dialup) you want to have based on the quality you chose

Re: Mini DV camcorder q's

I think the pixely stuff you see on youtube was taken from cellphones and ****....Not Dv cams... I have a 6 year old sony that still kicks ***.(DCR-TRV11 or something like that)... On the tv set it is clearer than regular tv...like dvd....

Things to look for in a cam IMO... is an OPTICAL zoom ....**** the digital zooms , unless you are usindg a tripod and have a high end (high dollar) camcorder....they suck

also you want a nice screen that you will be looking at when your filming (one that works in a variety of lighting situations....like when its bright out. good luck and have fun

Re: Mini DV camcorder q's

the most important is the image stabilization, there is nothing worse than trying to watch what could have been a good video clip and walking away with a head ache. Almost all 3ccd cameras are going to have all you need. If possible get some form of top handle grip, it makes anyone a decent camera man.
