My turbo quad...(pics)

Well, Last night my project became real shweet. We remounted the turbo under the seat behind the expansion chamber. It doesnt spool as hard but I was loosing alot of power having it right off the head.

Here is the first pic of my baby.
See all the dirt :barf: I gotta clean it now that we are done.

Here is another, A little bit closer for ya. (its a TE04H)

Another of the exhaust collector side

I think you need a smaller turbo. You should have one built to your specs. Im guessing that blaster will not even spool that turbo until redline which does you no good anyway. You said you took it for a test ride. How did it do? Did it boost up at all? Did it only boost about redline? Cool project but I would really go with a custome turbo done at my specs so you can get a much smaller turbo that will spool up on the low end side all the way through the RPM's.

Well the TE04H is a small turbo to begin with. I was going to use a 14B of a 1g Talon, but I decieded against it. How ever with a few bolts and a couple passes of the mig that can change (30 minutes max).

The turbo is for a 2.2L-2.5L car motor, Take into acount that fact that its a 2 stroke and CFM is a total different game. At first kick it spinns nicely. At half throttle it boosts a few psi, at high range I was to scared to put my hand near it :p in fear of loosing a finger. I will have a boost gauge hooked up tonight so I will know exast PSI and maybe I could get a EGt and InTake Temp gauge. That would help my fine tuning emensly.

The turbo if great for the application, You would never want a hard 15+ PSI like my car!

Besides , its the smallest turbo Ive dealt with...I wouldnt touch smaller.

Do you own any forced performance engines Mr JDM?
How can you not love that pull of boost?
Well im out of here for the day, time to go home and tune the carb some more while under a load......Wish me luck.....

Why would you put a turbo on a Blaster?
Theres alot simpler things to do to get more HP.

I would have went with NOS before a turbo.
Does a Blaster not have a powerband?

No as of right now I do not own a forced induction motor. I have in the past. I do love the pull of boost. I am not putting anything you are doing down im only trying to help. I cannot belive that thing is even building boost halfway through. If you say your getting full boost halfway then good job....but before I would have even started I still would have went with a smaller turbo.....you might have gotten alot more power all the way through the RPM's....lets see some video clips of it. Good choice on not going with the 1g dsm turbo that I do not think would have ever seen boost.

Or why not just buy a Banshee?
Blasters are built for 12 year olds man.
It may seem like I'm hating, but I'm not.
I just think you picked the wrong quad for the project.
A stock Banshee would still eat that Blaster.

For the simple fact that I was bored. You can go with your NOS. I like my power full time Not once in a while......

NOS is good for a bottle at a time, my turbo spools at idle and pulls like a raped ape though every gear, every time.

Update

I routed the carb before the turbo, about an inch from the inlet. Richened up my mixture, routed the shitty oil injecton to my turbo oil lines and Im running premix on 93 oct. If I run in to Knock problems im going to run propane to counter it. I will have video of my track runs some time next week.

I spoke with DirtWheels mag about this project, once finished Im submitting an artical on how to double you HP for under $20.

Id like to see your compition compete with $20 in mods..lol

Well, When going with a smaller turbo I was going to think about intercooling, With high boost levels I was going to run into very hard knock. Keep in mind Im on a 99 stock internal motor. Never rebuilt. Thats not a good combo. A two stroke is so high compression that putting a turbo on it in small boost levels can yeild amazing results.

That 14B may go on next week.

My choices
small turbo
10 psi @ hot temps
med
7psi @ good temps
big (14B)
4 psi @ ambient temps

I personaly think getting room temp air at less psi will give me alot better results then with a small turbo pumping hot ait in.

You are hating,

My situation
I have owned this blaster since 99
Im bored with it
I love turbos or any form of forced performance
I can fabricate any thing in my garage
Im not scared to blow up a motor
I know everything about fuel/ air trims

Are you bringing your banshee to stuntfest?
Race what you brought, not your mouth.
Give me till June 20th @ thompson w/ The Starboyz and I'll hand that banshee its *** over & over.

Im only 3 days into this project and I know I have doubled my power..............and $20....

Im still getting a kick out of the "NOS" comment.....

"I own NOS, I cant race you till I get my bottle filled at my nearest supplier. Once I push the button I can "boost" my performance, untill my bottle is empty. Then I will go fill it. Then we can race."

A nice turbo with the proper tuning will OWN any "NAWWWZ" boosted motor. Why would you only want part time power on a quad? Try pushing your "nawwzz" button going up a hill, or in a turn, or doing a standup wheelie.......My blaster was pulling the front up shifting from 1st to 2nd to 3rd to 4th to 5th with alittle torque steer hitting 6th..........

Wait untill I tune it better.lol It will be flipping back into 6th.lol

I was ridin at my track and when I hit my triple my headers just fell apart so I gotta buy a whole new damn exhaust system.. (700 bucks :twelve ) It needs a rebuild anywayz so I was gonna just build/buy another one.

Me? My turbo blaster? How much? Under $20, Most of which was for propane to keep me warm while working.

I should have pics of the new set up along with the plastics on it soon.
