Failed attempt at a rear handbrake

I attempted to make a rear handbrake on my KFX.... I got a new easy pull clutch leaver and had an extra leaver and cable for the parking brake... so i rigged the parking brake to my old clutch leaver. I havent really tested it out but I dont think it will have nearly enough stopping power.

Any suggestions?

Make a bracket just below your rear brake pedal. Attach the cable to the pedal and the "cable shield" to the bracket. Picture a mtn bike cable.... same idea... the shield sits in place allowing the cable to slide freely. You could even get fancy and make an adjuster at the bracket under the pedal. Here's a rough drawing.

Re: Failed attempt at a rear handbrake

^^ it WILL WORK it is what i was going to do.. we even rigged it up on my buddies quad( cuz he had extra parts) and it worked good.. kinda hard to pull but after a while it was fine... it's all about the placement of the cable underneath..

Correct. And no, I haven't tried this yet, but I thought of this idea a couple years back and never put one together. It seemed easier than running two lines, or even two calipers.

stop being cheap and go to www.gptechllc.com believe me its not worth the time and effort over a few bucks and the parking brake will not work everybody has tried it.

The quad usually shuts itself off once it's upside down.
