all you need if you have hydraulic brakes is a $.30 Y fitting for the resevior a $2.75 steel metal brake line and the same $.30 fitting for the rear calliper

 

Guys guys guys. Seriously who needs a handbrake on a quad? A 250EX with spent piston rings has enough engine brake to bring a legs over scrape down.... in third. You guys mostly all ride Z's with more engine brake then any other quad. Um how about less home craft projects and more practice. Guys are doin highchair scrapes on fakin 929s and old *** 900 RRs with no hand brake.

Or if you're set on it just buy a gixxer front master cylinder and run a line to the rear brake master on the quad. Same double opening banjo bolt that the 2wheeled guys use will screw right in.

 

See what an MMI education gets you! And some of us aren't at the same skill level as the guys who can use engine braking. But you're right... it's all about practice and learning your machine.

if you like doing all of your stunts at redline, then yes...
If you want to do controlled tricks at slow speeds, some would argue a hand brake would be in order... many quads actually come with a handbrake for the rear, including most Polaris' (i believe)
As much as I value your input, I think any product that can add variation to the sport should receive a warm welcome. Freestyle Street Quads are not exactly on the X-Game roster (yet!) but could be if enough peeps out here can put out a vid that is worth watching. The same highchair spreader is getting old... lets face it... in the past year, which vid posted on here has shown us the most variation? Dirty Jerzey is who. And what does Alfie and his boyz run? You got it... Hand Brakes.
I say if ya got 'em, use 'em... but what do I know...???

 

Man I have been practicing my *** off to ride out of high chair scrapes and cant get it. Unless I ride with someone and see how they do it or see a vid I dont think I will get it...... So my solution is a handbrake which I also think will open up a whole new bag of tricks...... and if what better way to learn the hand brake for a street bike than on a quad? **** is just too expensive.

 

I'm going to just put a huge lever on my shifter that sticks straight up for like 5 feet then I will be able to shift down and engine brake the front wheels saftley to the ground. Without a handbrake. I'm pretty shure if I ever scraped in a highchair I probally wouldn't walk away from it.

Talk to Chad from the JT crew. He uses his engine braking to come back from high chair scrapes. He brings it back to balance point, then back to scraping, then back to balance point, then back to scraping, and so on. He's got a stock set-up, lots of practice, and a little thing called skill.

Revlimiter will **** that up real quick

 

There is no possible way you will be able to scrape it without hitting rev. or real close to it and your running your tire pressure real low and riding on some double sided tape.

 

or what would be twice as good, run a choke cable so when you pull it, it will bring the rpm's down alot so then it may be possible. But otherwise its a big NEGATIVE on the scrping without handbrake.

I thought this was about handbrakes and rev. limiter. I didn't see a word about a clutch.

 

Maybe apemoney "boy" should figure out that lever he is pulling is a handbrake and when he stop pedaling his bike he could brimg it back down.
