Japan did it!!
Japan did it!!
Tokyo metropolitan Government and Japan Roadway ministry have approved all ATV's here for road use as long as they meet the inspection requirments. IE must have headlight, brake lights, and turn signals.
Then pay your tax and your on the road....any ATV! Banshee's and Raptor's...whatever!! And here is the kicker....NO HELMETS REQUIRED!
So far a bunch of shops are selling small ATV's due to import cost. But next year I am wanting to import a "real" ATV here. You guys got any suggestions?!

ATVs are street legal? Dang, yet another reason to move to Japan!
If you put a lot of miles on your dont want a Banshee. Very fast but not dependable.
Go for a YFZ 450 or a Raptor 700R.

hey guys you can make atvs street legal at least in ny, check out http://littlefootconversions.com/index.htm or google it you will see some talk about it im sure though in ny the second you did make one street legal the cops would harrass you all the time but hey it would be fun, and actually for you guys from ny whitesboro or whitestown police have an atv you see sometimes in the village little lights on it and everything so im not moving to japan for that, and the no helmet thing is nice but if im doing 55
i think i might want a helmet.

Re: Japan did it!!
yeah buts whos talking highway use im talking about city streets and twisty a$$ roads and besides if your worried about longevity of the motor then the 2 stoke would be the way to go cuz it only takes 30 mins to rebuild one as long as you got a spare jug and given that your main bearings dont crap out on ya

Re: Japan did it!!
If you think the 700s are huge you obviously havent ridden one. They only weigh about 400 pounds (dry weight) and if you cant handle something that only weighs 400 pounds (Im used to riding 500 pound snowmobiles and 700 pound Polaris utility quads) perhaps you should stick to an 80.
All I can say is this is yet another reason why Japan is soooo awsome. Ive always wanted to visit Japan someday and tearing up the streets on a street legal YFZ 450 would be pretty darned cool.
