So the ******* who owns the Body Shop I work at, and 3 others, has some kind of thing where he doesn't like to pay his taxes. It's all on public record, so we looked it up, he owes the IRS $507,660, and that's just the federal government. He owes taxes in the 3 county's his shops are in. We knew that the end was near for him, cause he's been having $ problems for a while now, our paychecks bounce and **** and he can't pay his accounts with different vendors. So the other day some peeps in casual dress cloths and badges came and put up a Public Notice on our front door saying that the Tax Commisioner was pullin our Vendors License and we are not allowed to do anymore Retail sales untill the debt is payed off. So that's basically the nail in the coffin, because if we can't get work in the door then how the hell are we supposed to make $ to pay the taxes. It's only a matter of days now before the Feds come in and just sieze the place. But here's the messed up part, technically we can't quit because we won't get unemployment, but how the hell are we supposed to stay when there's no work there and they're not gonna pay us anyway!!?? or they'll pay us with checks that are gonna bounce. It's a messed up situation....

Here's the part I'm pissed about though. Money's gonna be tight for a little bit now, and when I get a new job, I don't know if they'll give me the time off to go to these show's/comps. So there goes my whole god damn summer! Just when I was so pumped for a quad only summer too......

 

Just leave and file for unemployment. I quit my last 3 jobs and was still able to claim it

 

yea unless you give them a letter saying i quit you can still file for it

I would take an afternoon off and go to the unemployment office and explain the situation... U must have some rights because your payroll checks have bounced...
I believe the laws vary state by state, but I would think if you spoke with the right person, they could, if nothing else, give you some advice to "steer" you in the right direction...
Thats what they are there for... for you, not the employer...

In the State of New Hampshire, 99% of the time, if you are fired, for WHATEVER reason, You are NOT eligible for unemployment bennefits...
Like I said in my previous post, I'm pretty sure the rules vary state-by-state, But good luck all the same...



O, and your boos would prolly try to help you out the best he can with this, right??? I would think if his situation is doomed, he would wanna make sure his people are taken care of...

It's hard as hell to collect if you quit. You will have to go weekly and apply for at least 10 jobs a week and prove it to collect. I would have to tell them that you were laid off because sudenly went out of buisness.
and you can't find a job in your field but you've done everything you can to find one.

It's possible,but not easy to collect if your fired,in OHIO. I'm on the phone on unemployment hearings a few times a year. One in a while in person.
A judge sets up a over the phone hearing. askes the employer reasons for termination,write ups, productivity,attendance,aditude and aptitude questions
how long you were employed and if your eligable for rehire ?
then makes the decision on who's favor they rule in and how mutch your intitled to. If you had documented the buisness's money prob. and bounced checks including payroll. and let unemployment know that your employer bounced the last payroll checks and let no one know of the trouble. you went to work and it was locked up. YOU'D COLLECT !!

Yea, this is deffinatly a good thing. The place sucked *** anyway. I'm pretty much guarunteed to make more $ somewhere else. The only thing I liked were the people(exept the manager!!) There's not to many jobs out right now so I just don't want to screw myself for unemployment by doing the wrong thing. I'm gonna shoot over to the unemployment office this week and see what they say. I'll keep you guys posted

oh, and just to give you guys some input as to what kind of owner I work for, here's some of the things he does. The reason he's in this tax predicament is because he takes the $ out of our checks and DOESN"T pay the gov. A few months ago, the guys who have insurance found out that he WASN'T paying it but was still taking the $ out. So needless to say one of the guys got injured and he had no insurance to cover it, he's still trying to get it straightened out. He doesn't give 2 ****'s about anyone who bust's their *** for him. He thinks he's some kind of "rockstar" who can spend $ like it's water. he has close to 100K in his backyard. inground pool, cave with a hot tub inside and a big screen. Buy's everyone drinks when he goes out, **** like that. It's all finally catching up to him. He still thinks everything's fine. If you ask him about what's goin on, he'll just blow a bunch of smoke up your *** like he always does. We all think he's got some $ stashed away and when this is all done he'll be in FL somewhere safe and sound. He's just a pice of ****.......

Haha, yea, he's a douche bag. All good though, I just quit yesterday and I got like 2-3 lines on a new job already. Plus I called the unemployment office and they said given the situation that I could get unemployment even if I quit..........So I said "**** YOU I'M OUT *****ES!!!!" :YEAH I'm gonna help out a buddy at a shop under the table too just untill I get a real job. I just hope I can get the time off on such short notice to my new boss. The $ isn't a problem. I got some side **** up my sleeves.
