Just got back, damn am I tired and sore and sunburned!!!!

This show was fantastic, we performed 3 shows on Sat and 3 shows on Sun and the crowd loved it, we have interviews of the crowd members telling us how great we were!

We felt like rockstars because we got all of our friends in for free! The starboyz spirit was alive at Brainerd.

Stordeur, Mancuso win separate events at BIR

Teammates Steve Stordeur and Johnny Mancuso had a good weekend at Brainerd International Raceway.

Stordeur won the All Harley Drag Racing Association Can Am Nationals Top Fuel final Saturday and Mancuso paced the Big Race II Top Fuel final Sunday.

There were no import racers attending the Big Race II so Harley Davidson nitro-burning rockets raced each other once again. The qualifying order remained the same.

Originally, Stordeur and Mancuso weren't even going to come to the show where 16 racers competed Saturday and 11 on Sunday.

Stordeur said he told Mancuso he would like to come especially since he had won three AHDRA Top Fuel finals this season.

"It would be a shame not to come and chase points," Stordeur said he told Mancuso.

Stordeur, who qualified No. 3, did just that. He took over the points lead from No. qualifier Doug Vancil, who broke a shaft on his cycle in his first-round loss Saturday.

But Sunday was a new day for Vancil. In the first round, he set the quickest ET of the weekend with a 6.34 pass. In round two, he took out Tracy Kyle, 6.646 to 6.916.

The semifinal round saw Vancil face Mancuso with Mancuso winning, 6.552 to 6.575, in a close side-by-side race. Mancuso's reaction time was 6/1000ths of a second faster and his 60-foot time was 25/1000ths quicker.

Mancuso said he and Vancil spun their tires in this run. He said his spinning happened about two seconds into the race. Vancil said he spun his tire three times in the run.

Mancuso said he didn't see Vancil during the run.

"I try to really stay focused on my target down the track," he said.

"Doug is always really tough," Mancuso said. "You've got to be on your game when you race somebody like Doug."

In the final, Mancuso's opponent, Mike Romine fell apart. Mancuso won with a 6.548 to Romine's 6.728. It was his second win this season.

Romine, who had a reaction time of .38 to Mancuso's .58, said at about the three-quarter marker, his cycle's engine began to rev up.

"Like it went into neutral," he said, noting he thought something in the transmission broke.

Mancuso said his tire slipped again in this run.

"I knew I was going to stay in the throttle or I wasn't going to win the round," he said.

Stordeur, who ran the quickest speed during the event with a 220.66 mph pass in the first round, also had to "adjust for fire" in his final-round win Saturday over Tracy Kile, 6.727 to 6.991.

He said he spun his tire for 3.8 seconds (he learned this after looking at computer data). At about the 2-second mark, he said he "pumped" his bike into high gear and it recovered.

"I got lucky," he said.

I've reviewed the phootage and I got what you need...but I am up in Alex working right now...trust me, tho...it is on my HIGHEST priority list once I return...gotta make some ching and bling some cheeks...you know how it goes

 

This show will not be run for 2005, BIR did not make break even......so the Unsane Ryderz will not be performing this weekend next year. Look for us at other BIR events/weekends!
