I need rear axle help
I need rear axle help
I have searched all over the fiddy forum, and didn't find any good leads (mostly run-around).
Lisa got me some pimp *** pegs, but the rear axle on the fiddy is too short. Any suggestions where I can get a 12mm x 1.25mm x 250mm partially threaded bolt as a replacement axle?
I really don't want to drill in the frame, I would rather use the axle method.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks-

Re: I need rear axle help
Yeah, it HAS to be a 12mm axle. I searched everywhere for an 8 inch one for my fronts, I want me some front pegs pretty bad. The axle I have is carbon steel. I was told I could get one in Dallas. The rear axle would have to be longe than 8 inches I bet. Also, are your pegs grinded to a concave on the swingarm side of the peg? It needs just a slight grind to clear the axle adjustment. I'll post pics later today for you.

Re: I need rear axle help
I figured that I might go by the closest Napa store after work today and give
the guys the measurements for the bolt I wanted and see if they had
anything close.
Right now the chain tensioners are untouched, but I figured I would have to
grind them down a little due to the diameter of the peg.

Re: I need rear axle help
I ordered mine off Ebay. It was a kit that came with everything. I had to buy different nuts & washers because of clearance issues inside the pegs, but the axle was already the proper length. All the axle is is just a stud threaded at both ends. If you know anyone that works at a machine shop, they can make you one in 5 minutes. If that's the route you take, let me know. I'll pull the axle & get you exact dimensions.
Re: I need rear axle help
Well, after work I went to Napa, no luck. They sent me to another place
called Fensthal, or something like that, no luck. I went to Ace hardware in
League City, no luck. They sent me to Kemah Hardware, no luck.
Today, I went to X-it to ask the guys there what they recommended, and
they said to go to Mainland Bolt. We looked for Mainland Bolt, and couldn't
find it.
I needed to get a stock axle because the original one got scraped down, so I
went to Honda of Pasadena. I asked the kid for the stock one, and he said
that he would need to order it, and it was going to be $13.00. I asked him if
he had anything longer than stock, and he pulled out this box of long partially
threaded bolts, misc parts.
He let me go through the box, and I found something that was a little longer
than what I needed. And he didn't even charge me. All I had to do was go
to Home Depot and get some thick metal washers and it works like a champ.
Thanks for the help though guys.

Re: I need rear axle help
They are spaced out equally between the hex cap and the inside the foot peg
and the other side is between the nut and the foot peg. This way all my
weight is centralized next to the axle arm.
