Re: Track riding

Going to take the jet ski up to the east side to have the guy I bought the hull off of help me troubleshoot it. Hopefully it will be 100% done and running tonight.

I need to strip the CRF carb apart tomorrow and soak it in some cleaner. A hustle I have in the works depends on that bike running by next weekend.

Re: Track riding

Jet ski runs like a champ! The keyway was busted on the flywheel affecting the timing. Guy who sold me the engine thought he was ripping me off, but the joke is on him becuase it is a GREAT running engine. Dude also gave me a spare stinger so I can weld a piece of it to the stocker to make a ghetto aftermarket pipe.

Did you do the stock pipe mod to send some water around the expansion chamber instead of through it?

It's stock now, but I plan on doing the mod over the winter along with modifying the stinger and maybe milling the head a little. Got it titled and registered today. I'm going to take it out for the first ride tomorrow.

I never registered mine. I haven't used it yet this summer either.

Tips:
Start with a knee in the tray. It's a lot easier.

Gun the throttle, swing the other leg into the tray and get yourself as far up over the
pole as possible. Lay your whole upper body right on the pole with the handlebars by your waist.

Once it planes out push down on the pole and stand up. Then bring the pole up.

Going straight is pretty easy. Turning is accomplished on the throttle. Usually harder on the throttle than you were just going straight.

That's all I got. I still can't turn for ****. Did you put a lanyard on yours? They are supposed to circle back when you fall off but I didn't trust that. Plus if the throttle sticks, it definitely won't circle back. It won't stop until it hits something hard.

Thanks for the tips. Just waiting for my friend to wake up and give me a call. His parents bought a house on an all-sports inland lake that has a boat launch. FOund out the guy I bought the ski off of works next door to our new building.

I need to get a hitch carrier so I can load and unload myself.

Re: Track riding

Got the CRF carb rebuilt yesterday. It really wasn't that dirty, but it can't hurt. I need to find out what is involved with resetting the throttle position sensor. If it won't start after this I am going to be pissed.

Re: Track riding

Got up 2-3 times on the jet ski. I was able to ride in a straight line, but turning and cornering are tricky especially since I am used to handlebar feedback and on a jet ski there is none. Something is up with the cooling system that I have to figure out this week.

Check you hoses on the pump. Water feed comes from 90 degree fitting on the flat part. Bilge comes from the cone. Is it actually running hot or is it just not putting much out through the pisser?
