Foam insulation on your roof will help alot with conserving energy. It will keep your heat it in the winter and cool your attic down a little in the summer. and ya it will protect your knees when your putting down shingles.

I'm just going to put in one of those spinning turbine vents. It's a 4 sided roof so a ridge vent won't work.
