do you have a plated workbench that you weld on or do you always use a vice or what? Ive was practicing on a milk crate til the steel melted through it.

 

i mostly use jigs so i just use my work bench , i have a steel welding table but it's taken apart and stuffed in a corner , i never use it

 

Off to the gym.

 

I have a small workbench on wheels, im thinking of plating the top and using that. It can sort of double as a welding cart too if i mount it underneath

 

mounting your welder under your work area will just mess up the out side of the welder and make the lead hard to deal with , in most cases i have my welding cart as far away from my work area so my lead is where i need it and kind of straight

 

that and your work area is better if it's solid not on wheels

 

keep the welder and argon tank on wheels so you can use it where ever you want

 

if you need to use an extension cord i recommend you get an industrial one , the one i have is thick as hell like a 0 gauge marine battery cable ...lol

 

my garage is so jam packed that i keep as much furniture on wheels as possible. i grab moving dollies from work and bolt furniture to them lol

 

i mounted my plug at the front of my garage, i havent decided where im gonna make my welding station, i dont have a lot of room to waste

 

all garages need a solid work bench , a big vise and a bench grinder .

 

I have those, but theyre in the back of the garage and i want to weld in the front where the ventilation is.

 

ever heard of a fan ?

 

my huge workbench just attracts clutter ... i need to clean the garage sunday

thats why i put a duct and roof vent in so i can do **** in the cold with the doors closed

 

i heard that will blow the gas away, when i get the gas

I have a ventilation fan in the top of the garage but its not nearly enough to get rid of all the smoke welding creates

you dont blow the fan right at what youre welding you just use it to clear out the smoke ..

 

and when you are welding with argon it doesnt make nearly as much smoke as welding with flux core wire ..
