I trust my applied knowledge. I trust studies I can read from published medical journals(pubmed.com). I trust properly controlled tests done with double blind placebos.

Thats just ignorant. There are many different forms of sugar; glucose, fructose, sucrose, hfcs, dextrose, maltodexrin, lactose, maltose, etc ... 26 grams of the added sugar in chocolate milk is much different than 26 grams of sugars from apples (50% fructose - which has a lower glycemic value than glucose or sucrose.).

I know I have at least had bio-chem and understand the physiological processes - just because someone writes an article doesn't give it any credibility.
I can completely discredit anyone that says chocolate milk is good for anything other than as a post workout replenishment (proper time to ingest carbs/sugar for glycogen store replenishment).
I don't really care what anyone else puts in their body - but when blatantly wrong notions are perpetuated I will say something.
My reasons for avoiding sugar:
- It can stimulate a physiological reaction that provokes adrenaline and cortisol release which can thicken the blood.
- It degrades your immune system by impairing white blood cells function.
- It decreases your body’s production of leptin (hormone for appetite regulation)
- It induces oxidative stress in the body.
- Many respected studies have shown it appears to fuel cancer cells.
- It promotes fat storage and weight gain.
- It disrupts the transfer of amino acids to muscle tissue.
- Over time sugar spurs insulin resistance.
