i had the chance to watch a video this weekend that although it was realeased in the last six months was absolutly one of if not THE worst video i have ever seen. This video would have been sub-par 4, FOUR years ago. it looked as if it had been taped on one of those huge vhs recorders by their g/f's sitting on the side of the road and put together on 2 vcrs, everytime i kept waiting for one of the power wheelies to snap back into a coaster, but, it never happened. i'm writing this because activity like this is bad for the sport. if you can't release a video that you can honestly sit back and say is one of the best, don't! this doesn't relate only to video production, it also applies to shows. If you can't go do a show and show the crowd something they can't see every squid do, don't do shows! the problem is people see the videos like this that they paid money for and they will never buy another video because they will assume that they will all be similar. The same relates to a show, if a promoter pays a group to do a show, or even if that group does it for free but is basically just pulling power wheelis and looking un organized, the promoter will be much less likely to hire another group. I'm not even going to get into the issue of undercutting and doing free shows. If you feel that this post is aimed at you, it is, i offer you 3 suggestions
1) QUIT! if you are in this sport to make a quick buck, you won't! please don't drag the sport down with you. It takes lots (probably more than you think) of hard work and detication to get anywhere.
2) HIDE. stop selling your videos if you've alreadly made one, stop filming if your trying to make one, and stop doing shows. Go to your spot everyday and practice, get your videography up to par, your editing up to par and buy a decent camera. then bring it.
3) Ride for fun. go back to what it used to be, fun. put the cameras down, stop trying to book shows and just have fun stunting with your friends.
thanks for listening to my rant.

Glad someone is saying what I've been thinking.
I saw someone say that corporate support was not needed because a team can make tons from DVD sales. Nothing could be farther from the truth, just ask anyone that put a video out in person and you will get an ear full. Professionalism and image development are key if you want to make it. Eventual corporate sponsorship for those who grind it out will be the real reward. Right now any startups best bet is to call drew stone, run in front of my camera, or **** your footage away on Todd. At that point you will have exposure numbers that a advertising manager may look favorably at. If your featured in a video ask to buy them for cheap from the producer and sell them at shows or straight up pimp them to stunt groupies like I do. If its not better than an internet clip, don't waste your time trying to sell it for 20 bucks.

j/k
but seriously...
i agree with some points and disagree with others..
the fact that others are making videos is kewl.. you have to have shitty videos to compare good ones too otherwise people will never know the difference..
imagine skateboarders, or BMX's im sure their sports are wicked saturated with shitty videos..
and as far as skill goes... im gonna once again play devils advocate but i gotta say KNOCK IT OFF!! to all the haters and self-pretentious stunters who think because they can do certain tricks others cant they are better..
some people still enjoy watching fast ****. lots do in fact!! i know people rockin circles that couldnt bang a 4th gear freeway wheelie to save their lives..
different strokes for different folks.. stop being so critical of what others are doing...
if you didnt like their video dont by part 2, and tell your friends it sucked.. but if they can sell some vids, make themselves happy and have something others dont.. rock out... capitalism at its best.. i love the usa!
But i definately agree with the shows thing!!
with that said.. ill agree their video probably sucked and they should KNOCK IT OFF!! hahaha!!!!

Everyone has the right to make a vid and sell it if they choose. Should they? I say no! When I went to our local bike show in January I bought 5 new stunt vids, 4 of them were great and I have enjoyed them over and over on any rainy days we have. 1 video however SUCKED!!! No if ands or buts. There were like 5 or 6 riders throughout the video, and only 1 of them could ride a wheelie longer than 100feet, fast slow whatever....( the footage was also terrible and filmed almost exclusively by some dudes cackling girlfriend)I didn't buy the video directly from the group it was for sale at the uponone booth. It was only 20 bucks so it's not the end of the world, but I could have spent that 20 on another video of greater quality. The dude at the uponone booth said it was good, and the group was Canadian and I like to support Canadian products as much as I can(ie: Hindle), but the video, sucked sucked sucked! I watched it once and through it in the trash.(note: the soundtrack of all illegally used music was fantastic) So basically I am pissed because I foolishly purchased it. Now before I buy a vid, I am checking the boards and mag reviews to see if their worth my $$, be cool, just ride.
