Why not? That's what they were made to do. Once you check the relay and rule that out it's most likely a short.

the fuel pump should have 3 wires coming off it, 1 ground, 1 from the relay and one that goes through the harness to the gagues i think. the ground is shared so chances are it's not bad. its probably between the relay and pump, check the wire at the connectors, then check along it for any bad spots.

i could be wrong since my wiring diargram is on my home pc i'm going from memory ...

I think you need a course in electricity before going much further. Have any friends who know how electricity works?

yes the green is ground and there is a brown with black stripe and a plain brown one i think the one with the black stripe goes to the relay so you are saying just follow it between the pump and relay and look for a cut or something?

If there is power at the relay then yes, check between the pump and the relay. If you find where the power ends, it will cut down how much searching you have to do.

most likely there is a bare spot that was pushed into contact with something to ground it. Or there is a break that was flexed open. It could be anything. You just need to isolate each different section.

On another note. I'm biting the bullet and painting the ugly beast. What color or paint scheme should I use? I'm really liking the stock white/red 929's but I don't think I want stock paint. I'm also toying with the idea of some olive drab in there somehow. Maybe a military theme. This isn't a stunt bike so I want to make it look pretty.
